The TVR signing makes zero sense, especially after trading your best LHD for Korczak. Granted, little has made sense this offseason. TVR is 35 coming off a season where he played so poorly he became a healthy scratch and garnered zero interest at the trade deadline, and the Pens gave him $8M over 2 years… I guess Graves needed a vet to hang out with?

Picking up a left defenseman in a trade would still pose a dilemma: Which two left defensemen would play the remaining minutes in a lineup with Nikishin? And who would then be the odd men out of the top six D?

Carlile-Girard-Livanavage* would be my left handed defense, no apologies. I think Livanavage* will be the next Shea and Carlile will take Wotherspoons spot. 7th Defensemen TVR with Owen Pickering not far behind. No it doesn't make sense, but TVR didn't make sense in the first place so I'm leaving him off.
The left defense nor the team as a whole made a lot of sense last year so maybe everything isnt so doom and gloom. I dont think they got a whole lot better but I dont see them as getting a whole lot worse either
Its very strange to say "you cant enter a season like this" when they entered the season like this last year and had their best season in years
