Raddysh just put up 70 points playing 22:42 a night for a 106-point Tampa team that finished tied for 5th in the NHL, 4th in goals scored and 3rd in goals against. His teammate Nikita Kucherov literally won the Hart Trophy, Andrei Vasilevskiy won the Vezina, and Jon Cooper won Coach of the Year. Raddysh also got major PP1 opportunity, especially with Hedman missing time — 26 of his 70 points came on the power play and 10 of his 22 goals were PP goals.
Now he’s moving from that environment to Toronto, a team that finished 28th overall with 78 points and 31st in goals against.
Oh, and those 70 points almost matched the 73 TOTAL points he produced over his first four NHL seasons combined.
Maybe he’s fantastic in Toronto. I hope he is. But just throwing his Tampa numbers on the screen and going “LOOK HOW GOOD THIS GUY IS” without mentioning where, how and with whom those numbers were produced is hilarious. 😂 Context matters.

Even if he regresses a touch, i would still take a defensemen with his shot scoring 50 points in a season. Just the threat on the PP makes a difference. Hes something they didnt have and needed. Raddysh would have to have an ATROCIOUS falloff for the move to not help toronto.

How can you say Darren raddysh had a good year last year he’s not going to be able to replicate it ? How do you know that ? What if he scores 25 goals and finishes with 80 points ? You don’t know that
Rielly pairing with anyone will downgrade the partner. He is not a top 4 D. If you can't trade him, use him as a spare 6 or 7 D or sit him until he asks for a trade. I would play Stetcher or the guy they got for Woll ahead of him.
None of this matters if you pair him with Rielly.
