Personally I want to stick Avery Hayes with Lizotte and Dewar and just turn them loose.
Hey DK, I love the podcasts all the time!! I love hearing about the Penguins team all the time!!!! ❤❤❤
If Sullivan were still here, everyone would blame him.
So is it Muse or Dubas who is blocking all these young players from having a chance to make the NHL roster?
Sorry DK he isn't exciting. He isn't defensive minded and disappeared against Toronto in the AHL playoffs. Players get lucky sometimes. Harvey-Pinard with Montreal had similar scoring ability and look what happened to him. I didn't see the grit in the AHL playoffs , however if he brings it in camp, he may get a chance on the 4th line to replace Accari.
I’m hoping Hayes, McGroarty,Broz, etc get some run on the 3rd/4th line. But like you said, roster as currently constructed has no room for them. Please just move a few forwards (Novak,Braz, etc )for a d man or two.
DK: I have no idea what Dubas has up his sleeve, but there has to be a plan to move a few forwards out. Time will tell.
Whoever makes it, we are primed for a good team. I'm more worried about keeping the ladies in waiting. Most in the spotlight seem to be ready for the big show. Other teams want to refill their stable, and the grass may be greener. Someday, we may need to make room for a new crop in WBS.
Is it too much to ask for these guys to be specialists in everything, that the 3rd and 4th line be almost as good as the 1st and 2nd? The lights dim on the offensive powerhouse and the defense fails when the burden falls on the top 2 lines.
I think that he would be perfect on the energetic 4th line with Lizotte and Dewar.
👻🐧👻
Thank you DK. Avery Hayes needs to control that speed, knowing when to slow down. I'm hoping these young players get more chances. Great show DK.
Hayes on the 4th line over Dewar all day
Bravo DK 👏
He's not the same kind of player as Hayes, but do you remember Fabian Brunnström? Played for the Stars in the late '00s and early '10s. He scored a hat trick in his NHL debut, at age 23. Then he scored only 16 more goals for the rest of his brief NHL career.
I only mention him because it's bizarre how that can work, when someone looks like an all-star in their first game, then struggles to stay in the NHL afterward.
I like Hayes, though. Does a lot of things you'd want a 4th liner to do.
