  1. I don’t see that happening at all. First of all, the fans have turned on him. The C is gone. Mo will be the next Cap. Secondly, I don’t believe for a minute that Larks wants to leave because of SY. He wants to leave because he wants to play for a Cup contender. That’s the reason for his short list of teams. If he just wanted away from Yzerman, the list would have been much longer. He wants to play with his US buddies. Period. He’s done in Detroit.

  2. If anything ,Larkins trade request exposed the deeply flawed project Wings fans called the Yzerplan. Fans expectations for a competitive team seven years into Yzerman's tenor was not unreasonable.
So what's next? Immediately following the season, Yzerman stated the Wings needed better players.Yet he made no changes to the organization he managed. No changes to the scouting and player development group he was responsible for.
Staying the course , following the same course hatched seven years ago was not creating results. But stubbornness won over.
If the Wings are able to find a new GM to lead them out of this mediocrity, Larkin's trade will be seen as a good thing rather than the betrayal it has been characterized as.

  3. Convince him by going and getting another center that is capable of playing on the first line…

That being said, I’m one of the fans that doesn’t know if I can forgive him for asking out. I figure the best path to forgiveness is to make the playoffs…

  4. They aren't asking Steve to step down because of his GMing. They are trying to stop a possible cascade mutiny of the players.
If Larkin just asked for a trade, then Kane walked, it's clear the dominoes could keep falling. So they announced he's out now to stop any other players from leaving.

  5. The fans will never allow Larkin a day of peace if he isnt traded. The prevailing thought process here is Larkin is a traitor, and no amount of "good will" be say otherwise. Plus his Captain C will be yanked (deservedly so).
