As a Wings fan, I would prefer an outside hire. they need some fresh blood in that front office to bring their management to the new era of the NHL. they lack a Analytics department like all the elite teams are utilizing to help find middle to bottom of the lineup players. plus a breath of fresh air in the organization could breath some new life from the top down, if they keep the status quo with an internal hire they are towing the line with Apathy from the fans.
Stale is accurate
Maybe it's my rose-colored glasses, but I think Yzerman gets more blame than deserved. Holland left the team a mess, and the Wings have worse draft lottery luck than the Canucks. Chris Illitch isn't half the owner Mike was, and Larkin giving up every March hasn't helped, either.
Yzerman still being the GM while they're looking for a new GM is asinine, though. More incompetence from Chris Illitch.
I've been a Wings fan since the early 90s. I don't think this team has ever been in worse shape. Even the Dead Wings era wasn't this bad.
Another 10 years at least until Wings are competitive again
Long story short; no, the franchise is dead and needs to go the way of the thrashers… any fans who disagree are just stupid… the league is better without Detroit, addition by subtraction
Red Wing fans are way out en to change then you think. Raymond, Seider and DeBrincat are the only ones they care about.
Yorke, White or Gold under Shanahan may be a possibility.
Zadina wasn't an Yzerman pick. He was a Holland pick and Holland sucked post salary cap era.
Julien Brisebois built the Bolt's… Steve y just wreeps all the rewards lol
They need to stop hiring hockey players as GM. Wished they would go for a business student with a masters from the Ross school of business.
Wings should hire Mike Futa was kings assistant General manager when they won both cups. Drafted Doughty Brayden Schenn Tyler Toffoli Tanner Pearson.
Yzerman was the majority of the problem.
Yzerman is a one trick pony. If he is not drafting guys like Point, Vasey, and Kucherov. He doesnt know what to do. He becames a deer in the headlights. He does not know how to build a team with trades and free agency. Which is why he just kept kicking the can down the road hopeing one of his propects magically turns into a superstar.
helene st james great reporter. ahahahahaha
I sat down to enjoy this video but pinning Zadina on Yzerman shows that this guy didnt do his research and hes talking out of his ass.
Unsubscribed.
being a great player and great GM are 2 different things. this is where the RW org failed to understand. for scout management maybe still okay. but for GM, its a BIG NO!
Need another rebuild around Raymond and Seider. That means trading Cat. Tough decision but that's how we got here in the first place. Pick a lane and stay in it.
Mike illitch would not be happy at the state of this team
Kris Draper, the Director of Scouting that hasn't brought any impactful player beyond the 6th overall pick, has been in the organization since Holland was running the show and has had a major hand in the team being dogshit for ten years, should be the next GM of the Wings
Ten more years of no playoffs
"NO DRAPES" – Edna Mode from Incredibles
I'll be gm.
Heck I don’t even know anymore lol
They have cleaned rhe books now they need to spend some lol 😂
7:36 I DO WANT THAT
"i think it's perfectly fine." keeping a lame duck gm in charge of making the biggest trade since moving off of Primeau for Shanahan 30 years ago? right…….this is on the no-show owner of bad pizza and the wings/tigers. deadwings
9:34 I would personally kneecap Larkin if it didn’t hurt trade value
Dylan Larkin chews on his foot fungus like it’s chewing gum
Quit running organization like a Greek Diiner , family and friends. Need a totally new admin., fresh start.
There is no magic bullet. This is not Leafs Nation. Focus on the future.
Red wing guy here thanks guys for being straight about it , the wings have never really telegraphed what they are doing or want to do so we aren’t going to know the whole story till they are done doing damage control- as long as they don’t bring in bunch of 3rd liners let the kids play and spend some of that money and maybe don’t turn down likes of q Hughes when he asked to come here that’s probably one of the last straws least for Larkin – when players taken team friendly deals got. Mo and Raymond to do Same don’t let 2-3 years pass where don’t have a real first or,second line
A lot of people speculate that Chris illitch is going to wait until later this week to decide anything as the mlb trade deadline is coming up and once that is passed he will use some of his assets from that org to help make the decision
Detroit is a city you silly goose, it’s the State of Michigan
They have a lot of youth. They need to call them up and move on from old guys
I really like Horcoff.
Yzerman was a casualty of the team forgetting how to play hockey in March for three straight seasons. How do you put that kind of thing on the GM when they were in playoff position for so long?
Draper was a big part of Detroit's problem, overseeing the draft, rounds 2-7. NO NO NO NO NO!!!
If they want to keep having things under wraps they should stay far away from Jim Rutherford
DeBrincat apparently wants to stay in Detroit. New GM will be a fresh face from outside the organization. New GM will converse with Larkin and make a quick decision.
