He trusted the veterans and worked with what he got, i.e. rookies and F.A.'s and starting goalie change. Try that Cooper. This was a b.s. snub for a Jack Adams.
"Musing on Muse" oof, now that's the definition of a groaner. Intro music still way too loud.
Hey DK, I love the podcasts all the time!! I love hearing about the Penguins team all the time!! Actually, the day you posted this is my birthday.
hey muse is not a problem in any way for the pens , he should have won coach of the year . the problem is the pens lost most of their defense corps . this will be a wasted year if the pens do not play brunike, avery hayes and zonon they are the future of the team !
Hello MIKE..your J1Q..2 teams..Anaheim & Dallas were the teams that had LHD available…but BOTH teams moved those players
I'm tired of rosters and trade talks too. How about discussing pet peeves and bad habits of the past season?
Can you re-hash the "insignificance" of shoot-outs? I say don't make it a pecking order. Every team scouts goalies and players. I believe goalies have more trouble facing the unpredictable and unknown, not necessarily the fancy birthday cake with lots of icing.
Sweet mullet in the background there. I bet he drove there in his IROC…haha
Thank you DK. Muse did a great job. I hope that he can find ways to improve the team. Bringing in the younger players takes time and some may not work out as expected. Others will. Great show DK
Hey DK, the question at the end in regards to the defense? Mine is a little more vague. What is it about this team that doesn't like size or grit on the blueline. Parker brought that sandpaper that this lineup really has little of. I am still baffled that Shea was allowed to walk for four million. I am stunned that Letang is still hoisted up on that pedastal when his game has nose dived, the decision on getting a tiny Girard, well don't get me started. The Penguins have the easist defensive zone to penetrate cause there is no fear of heavy contact. For whatever reason, the biggest achilles heel is defense and management refuses to get or keep the pieces of value and hold onto the wrong pieces?
I know I beat this topic like a dead horse, I feel the same about Rust and Rakell, this team will not make the next step if they keep trying this line against other team's lines one. Do either one of these guys elevate the line or drive Sid, the answer is no. They reap the rewards of playing with Sid, if 87 is off the line is dead. All the talk about getting young and faster and harder to play against, you are holding onto a few older players who's value can start to decline. I'd love to put Rust on the third line and move up some youth with Sid, but with both Rust and Rakell there and a refusal of change, there is no real opportunity for the young guys to have that moment that we saw with Guentzel and others over the years. If line one remains its hard to expect different results no matter what the other three lines are doing.
On D, the only potential #1 who might be available is Nikishin from Carolina. They were rumored to want to move him amid RFA contract negotiations. Won't be cheap to acquire though, especially in the division.
Dan Muse is a great person!
So he help develop three guys that are no longer on the roster. I want to see him develop the guys that are in Wilkes like Ruter McGorty. The Penguins got lightning in a bottle by signing unrestricted free agents to one year contract. I want to see them develop younger players and win with them
