We don't need a rental player that will take up space needed for the young guys hoping to make the team. If we signed Tarasenko, say goodbye to Poitras, which isn't the end of the world. But, it's pointless for the Bruins and their young team
He is a great pure goal scorer and more than likely still has a couple of productive seasons still left in the tank.His defensive shortcommings could be easily offset by strategically putting him in at the right times. (Minnesota had good success with this approach last season) The Bruins really need SECONDARY SCORING more than any other single thing right now.As a legit powerplay presence alone, he is worth the current asking price on the market. There is NO REAL GUARANTEE AT ALL that Hagens will be anything like NHL ready initially .The Bruins need to be revved up right from the jump,even at the very beginning of next season. A respected veteran player/mentor, like Tarasenko, placed in the mix, could be an added intangible for motivation and cohesion amongst the group.I'm sure even Pasta holds him in pretty high regard in that way.He was,after all, the best player in the league for more than a few years, That experienced perspective on a young team like the one the Bruins are ,could prove to be surprisingly valuable.
