Bobrovsky had an off year because, like the Leafs, Florida was riddled with Injuries that hurt the teams performance big time!
Imagine being a Stanley Cup Champion 2 years in a row and then finishing 25th in the NHL and got the 8th overall pick!
Just like Toronto the 2 best teams in the Division were out of playoff contention and because Florida signed everyone else, they figured Bobrovsky would take a big discount!
These No Tax Champion must implode! I hope they messed up big and end up like the Rangers who brought in every star they could and then couldnt win lol!

The league needs to wake up at the unfair issue of taxes that the Salary Cap is the same for everyone but the taxes are not which means a lot of players refuse to come to Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal especially, because they want to clear a certain amount of money after taxes.
The best Example that exposes this unfairness is Mitchell Marner!
Marner always wanted Matthews amount money! So Matthews gets 13.25 AAV and if Marner wanting the same, signs in Vegas for 12m AAV thats 13.25 less! But I believe Marner was wanting 14 million a year if he stays in Toronto.
I believe its about 2 million Extra they lose for 14 million because of Taxes!
Just look at Florida, and the Stars there getting 8 million or 8.5 million a season. I guarantee you that if you would try and sign all the Florida Roster in Toronto, they would go over the cap big time because the Agents will be asking for more money! They want their 10% so they will figure out how that player clears 12 million like in Marners case which is signing him for 2 million extra!
I remember Leafs fans and Leafs haters always asking why do the Leafs always seem to overpay players!
Because of the Taxes!
When DeRozan was traded to San Antonio, he literally said he was amazed when he got his first cheque, it was a huge amount more than he was used to getting in Toronto and he had the same contract he had in Toronto!
Texas is another No Tax Champion State lol!
Its very simple, the league must increase the Cap for certain teams!
When they make the deal, The league can see what the difference would be and basically allow the team to pay more to cover the taxes! The Very high Taxes in Ontario, Quebec which are the Worst to California, Minnesota I believe to the mid tax states and provinces have to compete with the very low to 0 tax states!
I wish this was addressed by the media!
Just to clarify, the all pay Federal taxes. The extra being saved is at the State Level or Provincial! I know Alberta has lower taxes i believe!
