  1. Hoping for Hextall and a re-rebuild around Seider. Everyone is available except Moritz Seider. Debrincat should be traded. Arviddson should be traded. Maybe our new gm will understand what a 1st line center looks like idk.

  2. Ryan Smith bought the shit show Phoenix Coyotes, moved the team to Salt Lake City and has quickly established the team as a western conference force. Chris Ilitch needs to get involved bring in a Scott Harris type who cleaned up the Tigers and get this team out of the toilet. Otherwise he's a modern day Bruce Norris.

  3. Well illitch woke from his coma, saw the mess and did something. Highly likely this will be filled from within. They'll go thru the motions but who's left outside that has the experience this position needs? Huh?
I would prefer someone outside, I don't think illitch will do that. We'll see.

  4. The timing is stupid. That's poor leadership by ownership imo. If you felt this needed to be done, you do it well before now.

People who have suggested that Larkin rescinds his request now. God I hope not. He isn't THE problem but he's part of it and his leadership has been terrible with the blaming no trade in 25 for why they choked to the trade request now. He can't be here anymore.

  5. Why? To keep Larkin. because they know Stevie wasnt going to get anything for Larkin. They know Larkin and Stevie dont get along. Which one is more important?

  6. My guess is there is some truth to the rumors that Yzerman didn't want to pay Robo or give Cat a big extension with a big contract that he's earned, and that was probably the last straw with ownership possibly. Yzerman also does not seem to work closely with anyone in the org outside of his fishing buddies, so that might be another issue. The fact that he's completely hands off with the locker room and players, hasn't talked to his captain in over a year, etc. is very telling. Hopefully we don't replace him with Draper or Horcoff, we need a new vision from outside the organization who can hopefully make us a destination where players want to play again.

  7. Easy to separate Yzerman the player vs GM. Something needed to happen and I think both him and Larks need to go. Seider should be captain. What's the German word for captain?!

  8. Everyone wants to criticize just Yzerman. Not once especially when he took over and team was terrible, that he received a draft choice higher than 4. Seemed every draft the Wings dropped two to four places. Usually the top three or four players in drafts are considered elite and have best shot at becoming a star. Trades he might not have done the best but imagine the offers would have fleeced the top prospects…

  9. No Horcoff or Draper. Gotta redo the front office. Pro Scouting and anyone outside of Hakan Andersson's sphere should be let go, as well, with a new GM.

  10. Why would you compare Larkin to stafford?! It’s not even close to the same. Stafford was one of the top 3 qb’s in the nfl, a HOFer. Larkin…. He’s just average.

  11. Ilitch is 100% the problem. It's very easy to see. What needs to be fixed is the scouting. Chris simply needs to empty his pockets. Difficult for Yzerman to do anything with the contracts he just finished paying off this summer too. No reason for Yzerman to not continue as GM.

  12. 100% seems like C Ilitch caused clusterf#@k. If Larkin got Yzerman canned, he’s forever a bitch in my mind…and in the minds of his teammates, and the vast majority of the fans…. Player leadership is to blame for the shortfalls…period.

  13. Max considering your comments that the Wings HAVE to reset REGARDLESS of who the GM is going to be; because even the prospect of finishing 5th in their own division is "best case scenario", and even that is a "narrow path", then why on Earth would you not shut up about bringing in a 34 year old 2nd pairing undersized defenseman from the offseason last year all the way up until the trade deadline?? You wouldn't stop clamoring for that trade until the entire fanbase was familiar with the name when nobody in the NHL, at the time, even knew who he was prior to your trade talk last season. Obviously Yzerman was under pressure from ownership to make the playoffs and create a stir at the trade deadline; otherwise he never makes such a lopsided trade for a player that does nothing for the future of this team. Especially considering your comments that this team HAS to reset at this point, how contrite are you knowing that your stumping for that ridiculous trade has had a ripple effect on this fanbase and organization that may have impacted "the decision" for Yzerman to no longer to remain as GM of the Detroit Red Wings? If the necessity of the rebuild of the rebuild is now obvious to you, how was it not obvious to you at last years trade deadline? Wouldn't a top 15 pick, Buchelnikov and Soderblom have been nice trade pieces to have had in play at this years draft or during the offseason to find a #1c to facilitate the rebuild of rebuild instead of a player with no term that turns 35 this season? If you are going to make suggestions for this team, please make suggestions that actually make sense moving forward. Thanks Max.

  14. I hope they look outside of this what has become toxic organization for leadership. The only way for a fresh start is to gut the upper management. Maybe now every other player added to the team won't be a Swedish player.

  15. Draper can move on to pickleball management. Horcoff would be an extension of the Yzerman failures. Remember what happened last time faith was put into GR in the form of a coach that didn't go so well. GR is a different animal at a different level.

  16. I just hope that ownership didn’t side with Larkin and ousted Yzerman as a result. That will set a very dangerous precedent, as no individual player should have that much power. At this point, Larkin simply cannot play for this team any longer. Larkin’s trade will determine what will happen. If we get futures and picks, a new rebuild will likely come. If they get players, then maybe a small retooling. The new GM must bring in a new identity, and new locker room leadership. Also, hopefully they keep McLellan too, as he’s good for the team.
