Mcmichael had basically ALL of his production at 5v5 as well, he only had 5 points on pp all year.
Edit- no Mcmichael had two seasons until ufa and he just had 26 goals year prior and had same amount of points as kyrou last year….And in two years when cap is 123 million this deal is equivalent to 4.5 against cap basically.. And locking up 25 year olds through their entire prime is good business

Blues always trying to take the shortcuts. They should have been getting a #1 center so Thomas can go to center the 2nd line where he truly belongs. Being honest with yourself about your depth chart is what champions do. Taking a shot on Petterson made way more sense. You know you’re getting a minimum 60-70 pts. 100plus pts if it pays off. You could have got him at a retained salary around $8 million dollars. It was a total no brainer.
I’m just glad Jordan Part Time Kyrou is gone.

The key thing to look at these contracts over the next few years is percentage of the cap when they are signed, not the sticker shock of of the AAV. The McMichael to Bozak signing is comparable when you look at cap percentage as McMichael's is 6.4% of the cap while Bozak's was 6.6% of the cap when signed. Bozak signed for $5.25M in 2018.
Buchnevich should be shooting for the Selke Trophy ala ROR.
This season should be interesting with all of the new blood.
Great show Guys! I mean the opening email was just awesome! I too remember my dad's fondness of the Blues. His Law Firm bought season tickets for the Blues in the inaugural year in 67-68 and my dad took me to several games when I was 8/9/10 years old and they sold out every game. I became a huge Blues fan as a youngster, and then bought season tickets myself in 89 (Hull's 1st year) and took my boys to games……and now they are huge Blues fans. My family has bled Blues and still will from years to come! LGB!
Jeff Finley's play was underwhelming last year. I've got to think we have better options for a fourth line roster spot. I'd take Sunny over him any day.
Not that it’s going to be drastically better but Alex compared our secondary offense of Buchs 60 pts and kyrous 50 pts to Mctavish and Mcmichael, we still have Buch so we’re losing Kyrous 50-70and gaining 100 between the two of mctavish and Mcmichael. I think that’s a win. And hopefully neighbours and Dvorsky can put up 15-20% more together.

McMichael is just a less talented, younger Kyrou with nearly the same cap hit and at 25 he likely is who he is

Potential 20 goal scorers. Holloway, Thomas, Snuggy, Buch, McMichael, McTavish, Neighbors, Dvorsky, and….
So much hate towards Kyrou, our leading goal scorer in 4 of the past 5 years. He hit 27 in 21/22 and broke 30 the next four years. Without a center and stuck with Buch much of the season he slumped in a down year for the note last year. Not many players wearing the Blue Note have scored as many goals or with the consistency of Kyrou, essentially Tarasenko, Hull and Shanny for most of us fans. For those who criticize his D, I don't recall Tarasenko or Hull being that concerned about a 200 foot game. Kyrou wasn't as good as those guys and had less support than those guys, but he was pretty good and one of the best for the Blues during the years' post cup as the team aged and declined.
The trade of Kyrou was quality for quantity. Hopefully McMicheal is a solid 2/3 line wing, he played little center last year. Maybe Gastrin develops into a serviceable bottom 6 player. Also, hopefully the #1 pick for a guy who looks like Tage Thompson pans out.
