Into the deep end of pool for Poitras, he's ready. Would make the 4 th line much more offensively dangerous.
What is Matt Poitras future?
Well due to Don Sweeney's crap development organization & asset management he's now done to Matt Poitras what he's done to Fabian Lyell and a large majority of his 72 draft picks since 2015
Sweeney refused the last two years, despite Boston not having great rosters, to allow Poitras to develop in the NHL
In doing so, like Lysell and way too many other of Don Sweeney's draft picks, Poitras has lost just about all value to any other NHL GMs
Additionally, Poitras is likely dejected & his agent pissed off
And sorry homers, the Bruins have iced Poitras in the AHL for the better part of two seasons now, they won't regularly play him in the NHL nor will they even re-sign him to a one way NHL deal today
Because of that crap no other NHL GM would trade anything of value for Poitras at this point except a mid to low round draft pick or what another GM would deem a player in their organization that's failed in their eyes & whois looking for a fresh start somewhere else
Don Sweeney, despite 11 years on the job as GM, still hasn't learned you either need to play your better prospects in the NHL or you need to trade them before they lose all value to other teams
Poitras is not replacing any current Boston centers except Sean Kuraly
He's also not a wing in the NHL so he wouldn't be a Steeves or Essyimont replacement either
So unless Kuraly or others like Zacha or Middlestadt are moved, there's not even a spot for Poitras in Boston today as they currently have 14 forwards under contract for 2026-2027
And none of that gets into the fact that Matt Poitras is small, weak, a marginal skater at best & not a natutally gifted goal score
Sure, he has a good hockey IQ, compete level & some play making ability but those few pluses don't make up for his too many minuses
Poitras played Top line minutes in all situations in Providence last year & he only scored 13 lousy goals which equates to about 5 goals in the NHL because the talent gap between the AHL & NHL is Grand Canyon level wide
Maybe they move some pieces and Poitras plays on the 4th line next year but in that role without powerplay time & only playing 12 or so minutes a game he'd be lucky to put up 15-20 points
Poitras didn't sign his qualifying offer & Boston has yet to re-sign him to a one way NHL deal despite having the Cap Space to do so
Thus it certainly seems as though Matt Poitras is far more a candidate at this point to be traded for some low ball return or moved in a bigger deal we're he's just a throw in, then it is thsat he re-signs with Boston
Again, just chalk this latest fail up to Don Sweeney's over a decade long shitty handling of prospect development & asset management
It's one thing to be screwing up the potential NHL futures of 3rd-7th round draft picks who are NHL long shots to begin with
Sweeney continuing to do it in recent years with 1st round picks like Lysell & 2nd rounders like Poitras is grounds for firing
Since 2018 Don Sweeney has made 50 draft picks
Of the 50, the only ONE of them to play more than 3 NHL games last year that's still with the Bruins organization?

Poitras replacing Kuraly does nothing for him or the team. Like they said they need the win but I think for some reason they don’t care.
Khusnutdinov would be better 4th line center. Potra wing on line 3.
Why does Sweeney give these bums 2 yr deals ?
What about LOCMELIS? Are they finally going to give him a chance or are they going to waste him too when he played in an international tournament against Sidney Crosby, Sidney raved about him and his skills and said that someday he’d make a NHLer.
Haggs and Mick, Dom Tino has mentioned many times that there is a link between San Jose and the Bruins for trades. I think it’s highly ridiculous that you say that MASON got plenty of time on the power-play to prove that he’s a power-play quarterback. That’s bullshit, they give him approximately 20 seconds per power plate if that how do you call that proving himself this just makes you sound like a real company man Hagggs, do better!
