Khusy, I think 4x $3.5M is fair. That buys 1 UFA year and he'll be 28 at the end of it.

All of these Bruins are signed through the 2029-30 season: Pastrnak, E. Lindholm, Peterka, Geekie, Jeannot, McAvoy, H. Lindholm, Borgen, Zadorov, and Swayman.
That’s one-half of the B’s 20-man lineup, already set (barring injury or trade), through the next four full seasons.
The sooner that Hagens, Minten, Khusnutdinov, Zellers, Letourneau, Lohrei, DiPietro, and Poitras can mature into regular NHL players, the better.
And unless any of those of those eight is traded, Sweeney needs to make sure there’s room in the lineup for those eight players to get experience and learn-on-the-fly. No more multiyear contracts for guys like Eyssimont, Kuraly, and Steeves.
I really 19:29 think that (on average) Bruins fans are much higher on Khusnutdinov than the B’s front office.
That does not mean that I think Khusnutdinov is a bad player. That does not mean that the Bruins’ brass thinks Khusnutdinov is a bad player.
He’s a good player, but I don’t foresee him becoming even close to Marchand. I would genuinely like to be wrong about that.
Let’s keep in mind that Khusnutdinov was very ineffective in the playoffs. Can’t read TOO much into it, because it was only a six-game sample. Nonetheless, if we’re being objective, the Sabres completely neutralized Khusnutdinov. He played 93 minutes in that series, mustering only three shots-on-goal, and zero points.
If Khusnutdinov has a very good October-through-December, I would like to see Sweeney offer a 3-year extension midseason.
If, however, Khusnutdinov regresses or struggles during the first 30 games, I think it’s better to wait and then negotiate a RFA bridge contract next summer.
