I'm not supposed to admit this but I don't generally read comments on your YouTube videos. If indeed haves fans are up in arms because Hughes and Gorton didn't go out and make some panic trade to appease them I have to say I'm a little disappointed. This team is in a phenomenal position for the next five to eight to 10 years. I do not understand what the rush is. I've watched Michael Haynes pretty closely the last couple years and I'm telling you right now I put him if not at Gavin McKenna's level just beneath him. This guy is going to be here in less than 12 months what are you freaking out about?
Build through the draft, or deals in Free Agency.
Even the Trochek trade was too rich. For us that was the equivalent of Guhle, Pickford and a 3rd.
They passed because of 'cultural' fit and wrong for the plan, patience required for the right deal
A good stock investor is patient and is not influenced by hype. The Canadiens are player investors in the same way a good stock picker chooses the right stock at the right moment. Patience is a virtue. If the goal tending was better at the beginning of last year, the Canadiens would have won their division title.
What would be the player that would fit best on the team, in your guys opinions?
Washington is the most improved team in the East. Not only did they add Tuch and Kyrou, but more importantly, if Cole Hutson can have an impact similar to his brother's rookie season, it'll be a huge boost for them. As for the Habs, none of the players mentioned in the video would have made them a much better team aside from Dorofeyev, but as Marco said, he's a PP merchant and $11M is a lot.

Mason McTavish for his ability to carry the puck up the middle of the ice OR Mavrik Bourque for his speed and ability to be local fan favourite were the only two I saw a fit with this Canadiens team as far as Forward needs go. Everything else was just throwing money away to say that they did. Go HABs.

I'm completely happy with how the Canadians management has handled everything up till now.
Ken Hughes will make a trade when he feels like it will help the team get better… otherwise he won't trade. I'm fine with that.

Honest question here. Could the lock that is PP1 of Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf-Demidov-Hutson be detrimental to attracting a top 6 F to the Habs? These players want PP time. The new player would have to be top 3 to bounce any of the established guys…

Habs dont want to disturb their #1 line.. they only want a solid guy on a value contract to bolster their middle 6.. u cantbring in a 10-12mil+ guy, put him with demi and expect Suzi’s line to still be considered #1 line..
Let's see how Kappanen or Dach works out as #2 C before making any panic moves for the sake of making moves. Kappanen has tons of potential , he's still a young guy who has a lot of upside to develop.
Everyone discounts another year of experience as nothing, and they want the shiny new toy to latch on to. This team as is, with the playoffs they went through, gave them a ton of experience, and that amounts to huge gains.
This is the year that the Habs need to allow their top prospects to rack up NHL minutes. Best case scenario, critical holes are filled without spending assets. In most cases, the value of these players in a trade will be massively increased. As the season progresses, the number of rebuilding teams that will have quality assets to sell has nowhere to go but up.
There is no room on the roster for rentals or reclamation projects, when so many young, talented guys are breaking down the door to make our roster. We’re not at the point yet where one or two rentals puts us over the edge to win the Cup, as much as some fans would like to believe.
The great news is that the Habs have locked in their core before the salary explosion. The bad news is that salaries have exploded so much that the trade value of any trade target has exploded too.
I like the strategy, our core that is signed for many years is a better approach . Remember what 30 years with pointless trades got us…….nowhere
