I'm under no illusion that the Canucks will ever get Dupont, but there are some excellent players they could get with the 2nd or 3rd pick. The Penguins got lucky with the 1st overall pick in Crosby's draft year, but Malkin wasn't a 1st overall pick. Maybe the Canucks could get a player like that. The Canucks need to look at how they're going to rebuild without a 1st overall pick, because it just won't happen. They still have to draft really well.

Look how TOR and SJS just got 1/2 in the draft above us. New lottery odds make no sense to obliterate out and you need vets to learn habits / confidence.

Look, the theory of tanking for Dupont, I can understand wanting to get this guy. But understand this: the Vancouver Canucks will never win that draft lottery. Just by the "official" odds, you should be trying for 43rd worst, but beyond that, the process is also rigged. So long as Bettman is running the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks will never get the first overall pick. We can tank all the way to the bottom for 2 years, 3 years, 5 years, or more, but it will not matter. It is never happening.
Even if demko has a 2.40 at end of season there’s a still a great chance of finishing in bottom 5 . Healthy demko is good for this team. Not to mention his trade value !give your head a shake if

Demko wants to be here he wants to retire as a Canuck he deserves the respect that he’s the only one that shows up when he plays this surgery he had can be the turning point for him in his career the way he is taking about it he deserves to retire here as our #1 star 🎉
If they get an outstanding offer for Demko, they need to take it and then let the chios fall where they may ……
