Elite scrolling while shitting pull
Leafs suck, that is all.
Nurse is $9.25 million a year. Sam Jose wishes he was 9 million a year
Doughty. $11 mil. Thank goodness this is the last year. What an anchor of a contract. The Kings already have a couple of horrible contracts but this one takes the cake
Zib on the rangers had one of his best years of his career.
I wish podcasters would actually do research before making videos
One of the worst contracts has to be Brady Skjei (D): 7 years, $49,000,000
Elias Lindholm is got to be on this list
Admittedly, I am baised as a Blues fan but for the last year, I am fine with Binnington's contract.
I think the problem is that players are selling out left and right. I still think they're overpaid, and it's getting worse.
These guys will eat straight through the cap increases, while the bottom 6s, 3rd pairs, 7th Ds, 3rd tendies–theyll get what's left: 2 way contracts worth a bag of chips, for 1 or 2 years, no bonuses, no trade protection, and passed around North America every year or two.
It's gotten out of control man. I love what they do. They're awesome, but no way is their production worth that kind of money.
It's a crazy job where you can go to work, and tell your boss, 'I want 12 mil for 8 years and you can't transfer me unless I allow you to. And you can't fire me unless you buy me out. If not, I demand a transfer to a location of my choosing–probably somewhere without income tax because you guys are kiling me.'
Remember Rick DiPietro's 15 Year Contract with NYI…they're still paying him $1.5M per year til 2028/29, or Roberto Luongo's contract with Vancouver. Long term contracts are NEVER good with injuries being more prevalent than ever, you then have no wiggle room in your team's Salary Cap, Case in point being the Leafs buying out Tomas Kaberle's contract back in 2013 just so they can release him, or, pay him an NHL Salary to play on the Marlies, hoping some other team will pick up his contract. Back in the 80s until 2020(Game got faster, more injuries).
Fun Fact for yah, the FIRST TIME in the history when teams bombed during the Regular Season to get the First Draft Pick in the upcoming Draft was 1983/84 for…Mario Lemieux, the two teams were – OBVIOUSLY – PIT, and New Jersey Devils. NHL put a ban on Quebec teams drafting from the local Province, as well. Montreal 24 Stanley in NHL history…DONIMATED the 50s/60s/70s, last Stanley Cup victory 1992/93 with Lemieux's Peguins the two year's prior. LONG TERM Contracts would have put Brodeuur backing up Roy, with Lemieux as forward,, Montreal now has 31 Stanley Cups. Would Lemieux wanted to play for his home Province, what about Brodeur??? Roy: 4 Stanley Cups, most wins in the Playoffs by any goalie in NHL history. Brodeur: 691 Regular Season Wins, 125 Career Shutouts…with 7 Shutouts in ONE Playoff run, 16 Wins to Hoist the Cup, Brodeur got 45 – 47% of the wins himself(I know Stevens and Niedermayer were there), 3 Stanley Cup Rings(with Sweeping the Wings in 1995…was Niedermayer there then, AND was Stevens THE MOST FEARED defender in NHL history yet??). Montreal likes to keeps their players…locks Lemieux, Roy, and Brodeur up for 10-15 Years each…scratch the 31 Stanley Cups, they have 35-40 Rings(could you even imagine this!!!!), but it could have happened in the NHL didn't put a rule on the Canadiens drafting in-Province players. It worked out for Lemieux/Pittsbugh 2 Stanley Cups, Brodeur/New Jersey 3 Stanley Cups, and Colorado(I F'n HATE Roy by the way), after he left Montreal, Colorado won 3 Stanley Cups. I am not a fan of Long Term Contracts is what I'm trying to say, look at number 91/stand at the Blue Line to not play Defense because I'm selfish for the Flames who got traded at the Trade Deadline back to the Avalanche…how did Colorado do in the Playoffs, REMBER they had 9 loses ALL Season up to the Trade Deadline…favoured to Win the Cup back in November/December, 1.5/2 Months IN TO the Season!!!!!!!! I had NEVER seen anything like that before(I am born in 1982). We had him on a 7-Year No-Trade Contract. Nurse on the Oilers, Oilers fans KNOW: he never hussled to the Puck after caughing it up(Black Jersey Team to the Corner), doesn't know how to defend…bends Knees/sticks Stick in front of him, ALWAYS pulls the Race Card(remember that Slash on the Player in the Playoffs? …it's because I'm Bl***, isn't it?). Oilers had him locked up until 2028/29, but now he is on the Sharks(POOR San Jose), so now hopefully Edmonton wins a Cup. Get McDavid at least one Ring before he demands a trade from the Oilers. Possible now, that Mr. CAN'T Play Defense isn't there anymore.
Cheers fella!!
kaprisov 17 million isn't the best ever but it's far from worst contracts it's just market value
Rangers fan here. I hated Trouba when he was with the 'Gers. Hate him now. I despise any player whose defining characteristic is "injurious thug." But then, no athlete on earth is worth more than 100k. We pay teachers and scientists and firefighters pennies and these entitled jackasses millions? Fuck that shit. Humans suck. Period.
Add Bowan Byrqm and Bedards future contact in that as well.
Hawks are cooked before the rebuild even gets going
I kinda agree with the picks tbh.
I think Leo still got way more than he earned, but I think he will still continue to improve and make that contract look better over time. A great one that hurt for a LONG time was the nonsensical MESS the Wild had with Parise & Suter’s contracts… what a nightmare. 😅
Byram being on the list just proves how the person who wrote this has no clue what they're talking about…
The article is titled "Ranking the 10 Worst contracts on the books for the 2026-27 NHL Season" and Byram's contract doesn't kick in til next year so, is therefore not on the books in 2026-27…
Gypsy Crusader doing hockey now
EP 40. Most over hyped, and overrated player in Vancouver for well over 20 years. Who else got paid so big to fall off so far?
Bench players in the nba make more these guys deserve it
People need to stop worrying so much about the damn number on the contract and worry more about these being teams that absolutely need to take an upward trajectory. A big "overpaid" contract does obviously have downsides, but you pay a different price for players as a non-contender than you do as a contender. People just need to understand this little fact, yet everybody thinks every team is competing on same terms as Florida, Tampa, Montreal and Toronto. Yes, I know, I said Toronto… Some teams get McDavid for 12M other teams get Pettersson for 12M, and somehow people dont understand why… even if its so simple.
KK97 holds the team record for Goals. It's earned pay.
