Elias Lindholm’s Contract DISASTER Derailing Boston Bruins’ Retool

Boston Bruins face a major roster challenge as Elias Lindholm’s chronic back injury jeopardizes both performance and salary cap flexibility. Can the Bruins overcome this $7.75 million dilemma, or will Lindholm’s health woes stall their post-Bergeron ambitions? With a five-year contract on the books and trade, buyout, and LTIR options proving nearly impossible, Bruins management confronts tough questions about their center depth and financial strategy.

Ian McLaren takes a deep dive into Boston’s offseason outlook, evaluating Lindholm’s diminishing role alongside prospects Fraser Minton, Marat Khusnutdinov, and James Hagens. The episode unpacks lineup projections, special teams adjustments, and the ripple effect on head coach Marco Sturm’s tactics. Key topics include Lindholm’s power play deployment, the possible need for a true top-line center, and how the front office might navigate the NHL’s salary cap minefield. Will a medical miracle restart Lindholm’s career—or force the Bruins into an uncomfortable long-term standoff?

  1. He is not any more get Traded plus first round to get out boston send to Vancouver , they will take him if you them first round pick Problem solved but Sweeney is on holiday

  2. Send him to a chiropractor. That will make him or break him. Don't laugh, it fixed pinched nerves that surgeons were afraid to even attempt fixing. I'm 100% for the last 15 years.

  3. I don't think any other NHL team wants this guy ( Lindholm ). Maybe you could package him in a deal to Calgary with Loheri. I don't see any other way.

  4. Sweeney has not done well in contracts. Hampus Lindholm and McAvoy's are terrible as well. Both are soft in the playoffs and make bad decisions. Pasta for all the scoring is another soft player come time for the playoffs. A turnover machine that kills the Bruins. McAvoy/Zacha/Pasta were -20 in the 6 Sabre playoff games. I hate to say this but the Bruins will not be a contender with McAvoy/Pasta. Hopefully the Bruins aren't stupid enough to make one of them the Captain as neither one has the balls to do it.

  5. I can honestly sa6 i thought elias was a great signing. He's proved otherwise, im not impressed but still the same time look at what studs are signing for. Its not as much money as it looked like when we signed him, if we trade we have to retain, my thought is 3 then 2 then 1 for the next three years. I dont see it happening tho

  6. The Bruins face that same choice as many of us living with chronic injuries.

    You can keep chasing yesterday.

Or you can accept today and maximize tomorrow.

There is no shame in adapting.

The shame is pretending reality doesn’t exist.

Whether you’re an NHL player or someone simply trying to walk a little farther each morning, the principle is the same.

    Accept reality.

Then do the work that allows you to become the very best version of yourself with the body you have.

Third line centre until he agrees to retire or get traded.
