This team was nearly tops in the hardest division in hockey, up until the end of January . That is just a fact. (What is this guy smoking)? To say that this team has to do a rebuild 2.0 ,, for another seven or eight years , is absolutely ludicrous ! All the other hockey talent out there in the NHL assass our prospect pool, as one of the top 3/4 in the league? Again, that is also a FACT! However, this guy just consistently says we suck at every level, week after week. QUESTION-> Did He even ever play the game of hockey ??? I highly doubt it. Let's just say we "" theoretically" can keep the team intact from last year , and Larkin decides not to leave now. Since he has the same agent , there is a possibility that Patrick Kane will possibly stick around, as well. Throw in the add editions that SY just added, and we are already a much more complete team then last year ; and with way more grit and tenacity added. From day one , we will also have a stronger defensive core. Then you must expect, guys like MBN and maybe one or two others to step up, as well. SOooo, if old cheapskate — CHRIS ILLICH — WILL actually open up his bank account and spend $$$ on a few key trade targets, this team could def become a solid mid- pack PLAYOFF team and QUICK. BUT THAT IS THE PROBLEM….. CHEAPSKATE ILLICH AND CHEAPSKATE STEVE Y. WOULD NOT CHOOSE TO EVEN FILL OUT THE TOP SIX. SO DOES THE GUY IN THE WHiTE SHIRT THINK THAT IF WE HAD A FULL TOP SIX, OF ACTUAL TOP SIX TALENT level PLAYERS , THAT SOMEHOW WE WOULD JUST STILL SUCK??? GMFB , he just spreading nonsensical, loser attitude around. Winning GM's and winning oreganizations, ALWAYS have the attitude that if we bring in a guy who is 5% better then the guy we have now, then we are making that move now. QUICK BABY STEPS get you to the promise land…..Petiod ! This team can clearly be made into at least a mid pack playoff team VERY quickly and then major moves can be made to put us over the top ! Never forget, this is the same guy that NIXXED the deal for Steven Stamcos; who is still scoring like forty five goals a year. Kane, via same agent) , and continue to grow from this 2025-26 season forward, I have never had ANY faith in Chris ILLICH; so I personally think that he does not want to spend ANY money…..period ! Since he is primarily a business guy; I personally believe he wants to pay his debts down on LCA and the entire rebuilt city of Detroit, as well as losses from C0@!D ## ( and therefore, never planned on spending much money until sometime in the 2030s) All the questions ever answerred by S.Y., for the last 5 years, he just indicated very nonchalantly that he hopes the teams doing a little better in the twenty thirties. (I think that he was telling us something about Illich). He never with authority acted like , yeah…..we should be good by 2029 or 2030, etc. I believe, that's because he knew that C. illitch , was NOT interested in spending big $$$ yet (and maybe NEVER). 26. Yeah I don’t see why they’d have to do a complete tear down or why debrincat would leave — this being dependent on what happens with Larkin of course. But they were #1 in their division and should have been a playoff team if it weren’t for the usually march collapse. It wouldn’t take much for this team to be a playoff team.

    Now, that being said, it’s the best division in hockey, and they could have a 95 point season and miss— so there needs to be some perspective around that. You can’t go into another full blown rebuild unless you want to be terrible for 10 more years. There are no guarantees with full rebuilds. They need to do something like Philly tried to nab what they need. At least they tried.

37. It opens a realistic trade offer. All I read is how Larkin is soft, can't score 5:5, doesn't finish, etc. in one sentence and then the next sentence is that he's worth a Boldy or Johnston. Which is it?
    A realistic trade for a 2C on a team that is at the bottom of their division is prospects and picks. Three or four first round equivalent's and that's only because of his current contract and term. Quinn Hughes is a generational player and was traded for four first round equivalent's, Larkin is no where near Quinn Hughes. Leo Carlsson was worth four first round picks and Larkin is not Carlsson. Get real guys, take the three first round equivalent's (or four if you can) and move on. The Wild's package of Yurov, Stramel and a first is a fair offer and what Larkin is worth. Especially for a team that has to start another rebuild. Do the same with DeBrincat and maybe the Wings can look like the Ducks or Mammoth in a couple of years, young and very good.
