  1. Great signing for a great term. Could be the perfect winger to play with Jack and Bratt. Big body to go to the front of the net and he has much better hands then some guys who have played there. so if he can put himself in the same positions as Palat he will be a great addition to that line. Palats biggest issue was his inability to finish his numerous chances Jack and bratt would give him. 6’5” winger with some goal scoring ability. This is what we’ve all been clamoring for!

  2. Signs Pittsburgh’s 2025-26 top goal scorer (30), big guy, plays RW, and has some grit to him while also being able to finish clearly has that “Jack’s other wing” that we’ve all been begging for written all over him. And a team friendly deal with no trade protection? Sunny has done it again!!

  3. Great signing. Size up front even if he’s not physical in the way some would like, he can make room for Jack and Bratt. Worst case, we have him one year then trade him year two since it’s a fair contract

  4. 10:50 comment says, "Fitz type move." It's a Fitz type UFA target but not a Fitz type move for 3 Reasons:
    ¹ NO trade clause
² Signed ½ of Projected term.
³ Signed for multiple Mill. < Projected AAV which was 6.5M PRIOR to the market shift w/$7.5M being a more accurate projection with the market shift considered.

  5. 26:40 – Mercer at 4M is a MUCH greater value kept than traded for cap space.
    – He should only be traded to upgrade roster, not his $4M.

Mercer had 27G/56pts. in '23 (only Season Jack didn't get hurt for a substantial amount of time when the 2 played for NJ).
    – It was the only time Mercer played as Wing & not having to switch lines + position.

My main point is that the odds are high for Merc being closer to 25G+/55+pts. than 20G/40pts.
It's 100x smarter to give a 24yr. old Mercer 1 season where he isn't pressured to be moved from W to C.
    – Even if he is traded, the smart move is starting him in NJ Game 1 to increase his value💯.

  6. We have an actual top 6 now, the bottom 6 is stacked with competition, we still have some cap and some easy moves to make to clear more if needed, we have 4 first round picks to make or use as trade assets and Utica has been rebuilt… And there's still way more summer to go. Excellent work by Sunny no matter how you slice it

  7. Great live as always Anthony. I like this deal, makes perfect sense to me, another supporting piece around our core. Sure Mantha might not have another 30 goal season but I bet 20 is a pretty safe bet and that would help us immensely. His size alone is important in the top 6, Jack needs to play with a big-boy. Some of these folks have to stop waiting for the whale. Robertson, Hellebuyck and Quinn are not coming fellas, stop holding your breath. Sonny is getting us supporting pieces to test this core because if we fail again next season with these adds, the core is the problem. I'm sure some more tweaks are coming but so far I'm really liking Sonny's moves. No real risk here, no trade protection and only 2 years. If it doesn't work out, no biggie.
