New York Islanders Next Captain Debate!

1. Imo give it to Schaefer…..just like they did for McDavid….Crosby….Yzerman….he is the face of the team and future……just my opinion

2. Agree with Mitch, while Barzy is a good player and he did take that swing last season and Cho that clowns ankle, he’s not C or A material and he doesn’t need the added pressure. Bo gets the C and they can change the A up each game or every few games between the senior guys

3. Anyone calling for 48 or 13 to wear the C is either engagement farming or has a soft melon.

   Bo should be the C
   Schenn / Palms / Pelly to rotate being As

4. Horvat.
   Shouldn't even be questioned.
   Next,
   Schaef.

5. Schaefer is old enough to be the Captain of a HIGH SCHOOL hockey team!
   Give the "C" to Bo, and when he moves on, give it to Schaefer. Easy decision.

7. Bryan McCabe was the youngest Islanders captain at 22 years old. I agree that Horvat should be the next captain. Let Schaf grow into the role.

9. I have to say this somewhere even though no one will probably read it. I fear making Bo captain even in the interim would be the biggest mistake this franchise has made and we have made some big ones in the past. To start his production pace in his contract season and this Olympic season before signing and being named to a the team compared to post signing and being named to team Canada should tell you everything about this guys character and leadership. But the worst factor is he has a history we can look of him being an NHL captain. Look at what happened in the locker room under his captaincy in Vancouver and how much of a joke that franchise is now. I don’t even see how you can consider him in the running. When has stuck up for a teammate when has he put the team on his back for a run? He becomes invisible for stretches of the season and to me it always seems like when as a whole the team is struggling for a stretch he is never the one to step up. Finally he has a dead fish personality nothing there. Can anyone refute this with any data cause people say he’s a leader but his on ice play, his history as a Leader, and his personality say otherwise in every category. Also don’t say he’s good at face-offs cause that everyone’s response when I bring up Bo. Also to be clear I don’t think Bo is a bad player just not a leader and Overrated by our fanbase and team management. which I can understand cause we only have 2 top 6 players on this team.

12. 48 is way to young not sure why the hate on Barzal to where the C the guy has delivered in games and in playoffs plus you have no idea how he is in the locker room

    But also I think Pulock also deserves the C it might push him to be more of his playoff self but these are 2 guys that have been on the team for along time

    Bo would be my 3rd choice

13. It’s Bo. This whole discussion is fucking stupid. Palms, Pelech get A’s. Done and done. I don’t know why everyone is making this such a thing.

15. Barzal should get an A. This team is better when Barzal is on. He fought for Schaef when that’s not his game. He’s one of their best players. Give him the A
