I understand drafting Verhoeff and Ryan Lin. They are probably counting on those 2 to be part of their core defense for years to come. The issue is, that they are likely 3 years away from their NHL debut if their development goes perfectly. And then they are probably 5 or 6 years away from being impact NHL defenseman. I don't think those 2 defenseman will play any part of the Sharks success for at least 5 years.
The Sharks have taken such a large number of high draft picks over the last 4 years that they seem to like taking a few guys that have an extra long development path. Now having 5 guys that went to the NHL as teenagers including Stenberg is a lot. They had a hard time fitting Misa under the 50-contract limit last year. Taking goalies and upside bet defensemen like Karmanov and Haoxi Wang that need a lot of time is a solution, not a problem.
Been a sharks fan since birth and the Stanley cup loss in 16’ this rebuild is so special my grandma went to the cup finals and watched the sharks lose but she’s the main ready why I’m a sharks fan also born in San Jose as well. I just pray we get to see one cup before I die she never got to see one so I’m homing celebrini can bring us to a cup win at least one is all I’ll ever need when that day comes I’ll be blacked out drunk next to the sap center until the parade next day🤣 love your content love when you do sharks content as well your the goat always crushing it keep killing it! I thing one thing that was not mentioned with Ryan Lin is that he is going to the University of Denver where they have a good development team of coaches that can help Lin become a better player defensively and even offensively. With that being said it will be interesting to see what Verhoeff and Lin can do in the next couple years to get ready for pro hockey.
