  1. I'm a Flyers fan, but I pull for Calgary for Wolf. And just generally it would be nice if nice things happened for Canadian teams. Just not at the expense of the Flyers.

  2. What I appreciate about Conroy over Treliving is patience, it always felt like Treliving thought the team was further ahead in its development than it was which led to disastrous trades and free agent signings. Conroy has been patient and has been acquiring the best available young pieces as they become available and has brought in cheap vets to teach the young guys to be pros. This sometimes leads to bad contracts like the Sharangovich contract, but it also means you grab a stud of a D-man 6th overall in spite of already having Parekh in the system and consequently trading for Nemec.

  3. They just need that number 1 centre next year. If they can draft top 5. There are so many good Centre prospects next year. They basically have their D set for the next decade. And they have so many great B prospects on forward that basically second, third, and forth lines are all set for the future. Just need some pop on that first line. 🀞🀞

  4. Conroy is building the team from the backend out as the rate of maturation for the backend is longer than the frontend. #1 center next draft, and the Flames will have their core, with loads of capital to spare.

  5. Dang, I was confused by the "THG at 10" Headline…I thought he was going to show Home Movies from around 1977 of The Hockey Boy (THB) at 10 years old playing floor hockey and opening up Christmas Presents and talking about the Calgary Flames.

  6. Playoff Backlund is CLUTCH. He is surprisingly deft at providing offence unexpededly for a exceptional defensive centre. That season after the series loss to the Oilers, Darryl Sutter was coaching to be fired. And he got Fired. As for Brian Burke he was not the General Manager, he was President of Hockey Ops and interim GM for a few months after he fired Jay Feaster, and then hired Brad Treliving.

  7. I became a Flames fan during the 15/16 season after I came over for a working holiday visa. (Australia has bad snowboarding).

Fell in love with the game, and with the Saddledome. I ended up driving back regularly from Fernie for homestands, I think I went to about 21 games.

Its been a wild ten years, and although its been disappointing, I love hockey, and don't even follow sport in Australia anymore. RIP Johnny

  8. Calgary fan here. Personally, I loathe Vancouver. The team, AND their fans. I curse their name at every relevant opportunity, and pray they never see glory as I live and breathe, and for a hundred years beyond.

Also, the Battle of Alberta playoff run in 2022 was cursed by Keith Tkachuck. His son Matthew scores a hat trick in Game 1, and Keith — his own father — doesn't throw his hat on the ice. The Hockey Gods were very displeased. Calgary hasn't won a playoff game since.

  9. Hands down, the WORST GM ever for the Flames was Treliving. He screwed up so many deals including Goudreau, Tkachuk etc. Then went on to screw things up in Toronto. I think he's GM of a Boston Pizza now, thanks to nepotism. (He's probably screwing that up too!)
