Max's takes are widely supported by wings fans from what I've seen and I'm glad to see him speak truth to all of this craziness.
I doubt if Yzerman shares "the plan" with his players. Certainly doesn't share with those paying the bill – FANS.
Wasn’t this posted like a month ago
He wanted to be in the playoffs, but Larkin also didnt help in a end of the year slide.
ok so this originallly aired like 2 weeks ago? why is this reposted now? wasting my time
Old.
Max; how can you give up on the Yzerplan.. SteveY was left with poop in the closet. He promised to build through the draft and has picked some really good prospects. He's also picked up veteran help like Kane and DeBrinkat. He's missed on other vets. But, the Wings have improved each year and they only missed the playoffs by a whisker.. They're close, and the prospects have grown in GR and are ready. He's added good vets this time and with a Larkin haul coming up… we're going to make it this year. Keep the faith.
I f Larkin would add the Kings to his list, a trade could look like this: Kings get Larkin and Rasmussen. Wings get Byfield, Laferriere, Helenius, and a first round pick. With additions they've already made… the lines would look like this:
LaFerriere – Byfield – Raymond
DeBrinkat – Kasper – Arvidsson
Finnie – Danielson/Copp – MBN
Mazur – Helenius – Kolesar That team can go deep in the playoffs. Keep the faith.
Not only did the Wings trade up from that 23rd pick to get Cossa… they could have used it to pick Wyatt Johnson and used a later pick on Cossa.. This is a case of bad asset management. Shame on you – SteveY.
Yzerman will never trade Larkin to Minn out of his spite for Larkin.
Everybody can’t play for 3 or 4 teams and tax free states have a considerable cap advantage over other teams. League needs to address this
Please do not trade Larkin to Minnesota Steve
Larkin the quitter was never the player we hoped he would be. Mid at best. Nobody wants him.
How can it be a "trade league" when many good players have a NTC? It's mostly mediocre players or draft picks that will be traded. The good teams you're talking about already had good players. Yzerman had Larkin, Mantha, Hronek, Athanasiou, Bertuzzi, Rasmussen & Veleno to work with. Lol! Detroit was the bottom of the rock bottom.
Atlantic is also the toughest division. Detroit makes the playoffs in the Western conference. As frustrating as it is for some people, Yzerman needs to keep getting incrementally better like the team has every year.
