Reacting To Ducks MATCHING Leo Carlsson Offer Sheet: What Danny Briere & Philadelphia Flyers Do Now

1. We might not want to hear this but this could be a blessing in disguise. Now we have Cap flexibility. Danny set a new standard league wide that the Flyers are seriously open for business$$$ Agents on line 1,2,3🤔

2. When a rebuild fails, ignoring the problem doesn’t help. I don’t get why fans get excited to be one of the final teams in the playoffs, seemingly, every year. On a primal fan level, sure. But until we get a Leo Carlsson type, we need to be using the best avenues to do it. Jonesy and Danny tried their best to put one over on the Ducks. But Verbeek is no dummy, annoying as he may be. (He mishandled this situation, and I thank him for Z. But he did fleece us on the Cutter trade. I’m over it; simply stating a fact.) What players do people love to tout the most? Martone, Zegras, OT, Matvei — all top tier draft picks in the beginning. And they’re ALL wingers. To get the 1C, you need to get preposterously lucky on a Jack Nesbitt. Or you need to shed salary, play the youngins and rinse repeating until we get it right. Sure, we’ve found Foerster and TK in the 20s. Neither will ever be a championship level needle mover. *We do NOT need to tank.* We do need more moves like this, though. If they don’t work, then we have to suffer a bit. Can’t have your cake and eat it too.

3. I believe this team suffer through another season ..lacking what they need…Danny didn't make any additions that will change the complexion of the Flyers ..what they need they didn't get….special teams will suffer ,as usual….

4. The Flyers organization refuses to tank and that’s pretty much the only way to get a 1C like Carlsson. Yes, teams get lucky in the lottery but that’s like rolling the dice.

   I have been saying this back to the Hextall rebuild that these teams they are building have a ceiling because they are never in a position to draft a 1C or 1D.

   We still don’t have a Defenseman that can QB the PP (the worst PP in the league year after year). This will be year #13 (since 2014 when the Hextall rebuild started) of watching another season of a bubble playoff team. Sorry, but i just can’t get excited.

5. The amount of bipolar flyers fans who were acting like Briere personally delivered their first child 6 days ago and are now acting like the rebuild is dead because one move virtually no one expected to go through didn't go through is gonna make me quit watching team-specific media again.

   You know what isn't gonna end the cup drought? Firing the first GM we've had that's actually making progress towards a cup in over a decade and restarting everything AGAIN.

6. Philly in desperation mode. Now every team In the league knows it. Good luck finding a suitable trade partner…

9. This isn’t an attack on Briere, he did what he could to land a 1c, but the Flyers will forever be handcuffing themselves by showing more loyalty to ex players than the fanbase. I’m sure they don’t look at it that way, but you can’t hire the best person for a job in a competitive market when you have blinders set on people who used to play here. It’s loyalty to a fault, and the victims are Flyers fans.

10. Not a 1C but a player how could help offensively is Claude Giroux. He could help for sure… Oh wait.

11. I'm thrilled we kept Leo, but Danny Briere absolutely forced our hand here. $18M AAV is insane right now, but losing a franchise center wasn't an option. Respect the massive swing by the Flyers, but Carlsson stays in Anaheim!

12. Maybe a guy like a Jack Berglund will come in camp with some hope he could be that guy.
