  1. I think Chayka thought there would be a market for Rielly too. Doesn't look like it, and that's bunging up any other moves. Rielly is becoming an albatross hanging around the neck of the team.

  2. Philly doesn't get Carlsson they likely trade for Rielly. Would Mo go there, I don't know. But I think probably at this point he would accept a dealt there.

  3. Yeah, Steve answered his own question re: Roslevic; he's a righty, and has 20-25g potential.

The defense is still not looking good on the left side. We can't ask McCabe to play top pair minutes, we can't ask Morgan to play top pair minutes, and we'd all be perfectly happy if Andrae earned a spot on the 3rd pair and did well.

They need to move off Morgan and find a quality LHD somehow without moving Knies or Cowen or anyone who's young, because Chayka acknowledged that after fixing the D, getting younger was a top priority. Maybe they can package Morgan and COL's 1st in order to get an upgrade on the left side, but I can't think of anyone out there who's a legit upgrade, isn't aging out, who's also available, and their current team is willing to accept Morgan and COL's 1st to do.

  4. I don't know where else to put this, but if SDPN could scoop up some of the great talent that was just massacred out west and build up some Canucks content worthy of the channel, I'd appreciate it. I bet the Flames Fans would be on board as well! Pizza for the crew if you make it happen! Fancy Pizza, too, not dominos…

  5. Reilly is a #3/4. Pair with the right guy. His salary isn’t that high in today’s dollars for that role. Why do people think we’d be better by subtraction? Unless we are trading knies for a d man Better than Reilly then I don’t see it. Maybe in a couple years. If he continues to decline, he may need to be bought out.

  6. Nick Paul played 6 out of 7 games against the habs last year in the playoffs. You think he was ''out of the lineup'' for a couple games, not because he actually was out of the lineup, but because he was unnoticeable. 0pts in 6 games, pretty irrelevant throughout the series.

  7. Agree with Adam & the boys here. I like DJ's game but we have redundancy now and he makes a little too much. Damn I like the guy but the Leafs must work the cap unf.

  8. Honestly dont trade Reilly if the deal isint right we have 4 years left there’s really no rush besides Matthew’s deal being almost iver but I do think he’s gonna be better as a #2 guy and his cap hit is only gonna go down from here

  9. All their 'new' guys are very good skaters who are physical & play meaningful D, + on the PK (except Roslovic) in my view. Joshua is physical & does play D, but he is not viewed to be a very good skater. Just average. The Leafs had become bigger & heavier, but also slower, less skillful & less physical in some areas. All of the UFA's and trade acquisitions can skate very well. This roster is faster, more physical, more flexible, better on D, the PK and will be much harder to play against. Maybe Joshua doesn't fit the 'fast' component. He's certainly tough enough & played very well with Blueger in Van.

  10. Toronto has 15 forwards, so there’s already extras. Domi LTIR to be determined. Not sure what they are trying to do at forward by getting a 16th one trying to get Giroux. And you have Marlies who could play for the team on top of that.

  11. There is a market for Reilly, the Leafs simply are not willing to give him away for free. He will be dealt when the right deal comes along and if not he will be on the 3rd pairing.
