1. This is great for Philly they don't have any large contracts and the fact that Zegras and Drysdale went to arbitration says they're all in on Philly.

2. Briere has really messed with Verbeek's head, he panicked & signed Mintyukov for higher than he was really worth.
   Huge mistake not have Carlsson signed by the end of June. If wasn't such a prick he could have saved millions by getting it done months ago.
   He's said they'll match any offers.

9. As a Ducks fan, after thinking about it I hope they Carlsson walk. He has 90 to 95 point per season potential, but even at that pace the contract is too high. The biggest gripe is there was another offersheet for seven years at 17.5 per. That is HUGE, life changing, elite level money that would have made him the highest paid player in the league this year with more money to keep him and all the way to his great grand children set for life. He didn't bat an eye, he went for the shorter term, biggest pay off the first two years. He knew full well what that contract meant and what it would do to the Ducks for the first couple of years at least. He may be frustrated with Verbeek, anyone can see why, players and fans alike, but he knew full well that deal would put a serious cup run on the back burner for a while. He knew that would screw with fanbase bigtime as well. Didn't give a rats… The 7 year 17.5 offer sheet would have made his point that Verbeek needs to do better with contract talks and still not put the team in as big of a handcuff situation as the Flyers offer. Obviously, he didn't care. Carlsson in past interviews seemed like a nice kid, but this shows true colors. It makes him about himself and money only. I get it, it is a business. That is what a lot are saying, but it is business that thrives and grows only with fans. Look at what McDavid did. He has more money than he knows what to do with. He took less to play for a team AND fanbase he wants to bring a cup to. He respects more than just money. He respects the game his team mates and the fans. That will never be the case with players like Carlsson no matter where he lands, now or in five years time. It will be the biggest paycheck every time no matter the situation. Ducks need to draft more than just talent, but strong character as well. Philly will probably get him, but if he stays right around a point per game, maybe even hitting 90 points or so per season it will always be a massive overpay. It may not work out like Briere plans. A little salty, yeah, but i hope that every young, high end player about to become a RFA on the Flyers holds out for an overpay. We'll see if this was a good play for the ages or one that puts Philly in an eventual cap strapped hell as they tried to put on the Ducks. I know which one of those two I am hoping for.

10. In free agency you are going to overpay, so why not over pay for a 21 yr old 1C. The cap will bounce back. Flyers will be fine.

Sergei Bobrovsky doesn't get hurt cuz his defense was very strong in Florida was there for support clearing men and pucks for him, The leafs will be a different story, Leafs goaltenders have to make many more 2 and 3 saves situations Bobrovsky will not last more than 20 games before he's hurt..

15. They match. No chance they don't. Mintyukov signing aligns with the same 5 year deal. They are allowed to be 10% over cap til season start. Have Terry LTIR which frees up about 4 mil, which makes a Cutter deal and Hinds deal possible, not to mention they can still trade to free up space. If they don't trade they still have about 13 mil coming off next year with Kreider and Killorn deals ending. They probably figure out a way to get rid of Vatrano, regardless of this whole mess considering he was scratched most of last season and didn't play in the playoffs.

17. I’m an Anaheim fan. I say do not match. This is a horrible contract for either team.

18. No matter the predictions, most NHL teams know Anthony Mantha isn't worth $6.5 million. His best season ever was due to playing with Malkin who can still take over games, and the chemistry they both had with Justin Brazeau. My guess is he'll go to whichever team offers the most money. He has never really shown himself to be a full effort player.

20. Verbeek has no one to blame but himself. Part of me doesnt see the Ducks NOT matching the deal. The other part of me thinks they just can't match it.

21. Wow! Anaheim is in a pickle. They can probably afford to sign both Carlsson and Gauthier but the pay disparity is going to cause problems with players sooner or later.
