  1. i’ve been in the dont trade, Mitch or Martone group, but if that’s what it takes to do business then you do it. The flyers are in a very tough spot where they’re not bad enough to draft where you need to to get a number one center Danny might not get another chance to get a player like this so they should do whatever it takes to land him.

  2. This is just silly. They would want a D-man, not a winger. And why set the market value so high if you could have just made a trade at a lower AAV?

No trade, just handicap the Ducks ability to make any splashes of their own.

  3. TBH no to either because either match or don’t match. Even where I go you got to give to get its 1 1st & player. No way to 3 1st & player. Both r top 7 picks & Michkov was talked of being #1 overall if it wasn’t for his KHL contract & Martone was projected 4th & teams went stupid picking centers that aren’t even in the league & didn’t have impressive draft plus 1 seasons. If u want to factor they may be late 1st round picks absolutely not more than 2 & because it’s a trade now not Toronto’s 1st.

I’d be more willing to go 1 1st Ristro, Tippet, & Cates. Love Tippet & his speed but the wing is log jammed & love Cates but he is gonna lose his job to Dvorak & would push him to the wing. Plus both r 27 so get rid of 2 players on the older side of their “prime” & keep the young core. Plus would clear cap for Zegras/Drysdale extensions.

  4. Michkov and Martone are not for sale. They're both young and have a ton of potential. Let's develope them and take Carlsson from the Ducks and develop him too.
    Long live Danny Briere.
    Long live Philadelphia.
    Orange and Black for life.

  5. You don’t trade Michkov or Martone because you’re already giving up four first round picks and an enormously large cap hit to get Leo. The cap hit alone is a lot to take on, why would you have to give even more to get him? 3 firsts and Martone or Mich for a better contract, yah. Maybe. But to take the full hit of 18 mil AND lose one of your top 2 prospects AND your next three firsts, no way. That really is too much.

  6. 1. Trading MM after two seasons, both of which were before we even anticipated him even coming over, would equate to all the other moves we’ve made over the years too early that backfired (Bob, Williams, Sharp, Carter/Richards, etc.)

    2. This is no longer an option, anyway, at least on the surface. The option to threaten an offer sheet and entice a trade is only before signing. Neither team can trade him in year one that starts in five days. Leo can’t be traded in year one or year five; ANA has to either match or let him walk.

Both teams can get creative, though, and work out a deal afterwards (e.g. we agree not to match and will trade you XYZ for XYZ after.)

  7. Why are so many of you so amped to trade Michkov but not Martone? Michkov has only two season under his belt. One was a great rookie season and the other was a sophomore slump. He’s a baby and still very much in development. Meanwhile, Martone played for the Flyers for about 5 seconds and you’re acting like he’s untouchable.

    Just plain silly.
