The Edmonton Oilers have loaded up the lower end of the NHL D core, with young enough cost controlled defenders. Who wins the big battle ahead for the final roster spots on the Oilers back end this year?

I think you let Stastney go. Keep the spot open for a callup. There's your top 8. Ackey will need reps this year.

Yeah coaching is absolutely crucial. Only if someone was reminding Nurse some basic stuff such as not point stick towards own net and be square not turn your butt to the play. ๐คฃ
Iโll be honest, I wasnโt too impressed with regula or Emberson, I like Stastneyโs ability to skate and Iโd rather see someone new. Iโm for the new guys.
Ty Emberson I feel has improved greatly and was impressed last year for his hitting and being able to take hits. Ty plays with some grit
Underperforming + injury-prone + overpaid = Jake Walman
All these names shout average or game to game scratches.
who knew the offseason would be this exciting, right?
Emberson has had one good year, and his coach is now gone; he has not yet proven himself as a dependable year-over-year NHLer. The organization seems to be high on Ackey, yet Damien Carfagna is the better defensemen and closer to the NHL.
