  1. losing reilly will make them worse, the return won't be enough to replace a top 4 dman who can move the puck, the new additions should help manage his ice time and not overplay him

  2. Lets see if he has this much enthusiasm in April when the leafs are inevitably out of the playoffs again because MLSE care more about selling beer and Mckenna jerseys than they do about winning.

  3. Stecher is a stop gap until Danford is ready, which will likely be 30 games at most into the season. Danford may make the team right from training camp — but likely will before Xmas. Jay McKee said he is going to be a top pair shut down D. Not right away obv, but from a guy that knows hockey is good to hear.

  4. Where in the lineup will Emile Andre fit, once Matthews trade request gets granted? He wants to go home to the coyotes. The Toronto Maple Leafs are wasting his career.

  5. I questioned Chayka's NHL re-hire. At this juncture, I feel better about him. He & Mats have closely examined the team. What was determined was the team had become slow, less skilled & less physical. Not fast enough to get in on the forecheck to disrupt opposing D on retrievals. The D, absent Tanev, were big, but guys like Carlo & Benoit not skilled enough to make clean plays in all zones. They couldn't break the puck out effectively. They often failed to get pucks up to the forwards, or participate on offence. The moves that have been made have changed that imo. Raddysh & Andrae are very good on retrievals & make quality passes in all 3 zones. They are adept at breaking the puck out & play quality D in gapping up, while being solid in the D-zone. Raddysh played top pair mins all last season & was +21 against top opposition. Chayka's trade & UFA forward acquisitions have definitively improved the bottom 6 in terms of speed, physicality, defensive reliability & PK acumen. Bob is likely 'good Bob'.
