@5:06 bro pump the breaks! Did u not see the goal differential? We were basically a playoff team. We were the best non playoff team. We had brutal last minute collapses with wins at hand. To say to not compete next year is crazy. Helly with a knee injury (likely from beginning of season) and focused on olympics. It'd be crazy to think we shouldn't compete next year
Chevy said the goal is to win with the same level of certainty as when he said that Viggo is a center. I have no doubt that they aren't wasting this season and will try to finish as high as possible. It is absolutely a transitional phase — especially when a major piece like Hellebuyck does ultimately move — but it's structured to remain highly competitive. They aren't wasting a single year of Mark Scheifele or Josh Morrissey's windows. Instead of a standard tank, they are trying to building a faster, younger foundation while expecting the current roster to push as hard as possible for a playoff spot.
