  1. I mean this as a compliment: Staple is 100% the reason I tuned in to episode 1. 50 episodes later and I'm super glad to listen to Rupper and Jonny yap. Love this pod.

  2. I love we are going with Nico. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS!!! OUR FRANCHISE GOALIE IS MIKHAIL YEGOROV. HE IS AN AMAZING DIFFERENCE MAKER. Just ask Mr. Fowler and BC. We DO NOT need overrated trash like Hellebucyk. He is TRASH with traffic in front of him. Also, he has never put the Jets on his back and won a playoff series

  3. Toronto will regret giving up woll to Philly anytime you give up talent you never trade him to a rival you ship him across conference. East to west, west to east.borgowski is kinda up there in age but still has gas in the tank obviously but I would've kept woll at least 1-2 more years.

  4. I have never been a fan of the Rangers building from the goaltender out. But if you’re going to build goalie out this is how you do it. We put a defense in front of Igor to allow him to be our best player. There’s definitely still a hole in that 2RW spot that’s been there since Buch. I don’t agree with Johnnys thoughts on Laba he’s said in other videos, if this teams going to succeed you need to develop him into a true 3c that’s cheap. We have a bunch of players I’d be willing to package together for another winger. If Drury is done then he is a moron. We have young guys coming up from the minors who will be ready before you know it. The guys on this roster are place holders at best. There’s no world where the Rangers are competitive this season but at least they will be interesting to watch this season.

  5. The Islanders year for moves is next year. Clear cap space, more kids come up and real free agent signings next season. If DeBoer can help out Sorokin from having to stand on his head every night and a functional PP and they should be in the playoffs. Lee had to go. Lou would have signed him for 4 years and $16mm. Make Horvat the captain

  6. Does anyone else see that all we need is Conner McGod and we’re a serious contender? Conner, Mika, Miller, Laba and these good wingers, that D, and Igor.
This is what Drury is planning.

  7. I've been a Rangers Fan since I was five years old.

A lot of Rangers fans have become addicted to impatience and quick fixes ( that for one exception: the building of what would become the '94 Cup team), have not panned out.

Here's the thing: the Rangers are not in the window to challenge for the Cup.

Despite everyone wanting to maximize the Igor, Fox, JT Miller and Gavrikov window of opportunity:

This organization has been building up for the next 3- 5 years. This is the long view.

Our Rangers already have: Perreault, Laba, Cuylle, Kartye, LafreniĆØre, Chmelar ( pronounced- Hem-a-Losh), Sykora, on the roster/in the system.

    Now they added Dorofeyev.

Now we have Bjorkstrand, as well.

I was just talking about this, last week…regarding Braden Schneider. And now Rupp just said the same thing about Cotter…

Schneider has had three different head coaches and coaching staffs, in 4 and half years of his NHL career.

Two of those seasons have been a major disaster of drama, a lot of team injuries and revolving door of defensive partners for him.

Schneider needs more time. Rangers need to stick with him, work with him.

Now to dig deeper: our Rangers have….

Greentree, Aspinall and Beaudoin, Smits: all pushing for NHL roster spots this season, and in the next season.

Then we have Center Tomas Chrenko ( just drafted) and several interesting/promising defensemen.

How their individual abilities/game translates to the NHL level, is anyone's guess right now.Ā

But these players are the promising building blocks for the team they're building.

I have to be realistic. This team will not be ready to challenge for a Cup, for several years. Barring any miracles, that is, LoL

Thanks for the podcast show!! Always enjoy your discussions.

  8. I think Rangers should go get Eeli Tolvanen, he can score 25-30 goals. Hits a lot. Finn, reliable on defensive side as well and is he 26 or 27 so good age good retool player who can start 2 line if he can score and otherwise he can be good 3 liner for us many years.

  9. Paul Cotter’s only obstacle is himself. Amazing hands and great speed/physicality…. And none of the brains to utilize it all 5v5. It makes him a shootout specialist but man it’s frustrating seeing what he COULD be if it ever came together. Glad he got a shot with the Devils to see if he could’ve pieced it all into the complete package.

  10. Compare rosters for NYR last year to this year…. Idk how you can possibly say they haven’t been vastly improved. Still need another top 6 player but everything else feels addressed and upgraded.

  11. tbf mercer has great nerd stats so trading him is a no cuz he meshing well with nico its just meier needs to be RW. we need a big body top 6 for jack tho. im more worried about that small soft line of jack bratt brown and we have no coaches on the staff and that a issue i have with mehta he doesnt know wtf he is doing. let keefe hire his ppl but idk why they taking so long to announce the PP,FWD,Def,and goalie coaches.

  12. just don't understand this Korpisalo and Bjorkstrand move. A 4 million reserve goalie, when you also have Shesty who plays 70 games, and on top of that, a rental Bjorkstrand, who couldn't fit the roster in Tampa, doesn't move any retooling or rebuilding forward.
