The offer comes in at 1-year worth $4.775 million, requiring the compensation of a 2027 2nd round pick. The Mammoth have 1 week to match the contract

Color me confused about the Hayden offer sheet. Second round comp for a 3C, especially with Rodrigues & Glass already UC. Not to mention another 4+ Mil bottom six player?
Sunny Mehta has not impressed so far as Devils GM. Getting rid of the Markstrom contract has been his best move. But the Devils STILL have not fixed their Top 6 deficit. This was Fitzy's biggest issue and Mehta has not solved it so far. Like Fitz, Mehta has focused on messing around with the bottom 6. The Devils continue to tread water while many in the EC have gotten better. And they're going into the season with Nico Daws and Jake Allen as their goalie tandem? Does Mehta have a trade for Hellebuyck up his sleeve? And what would that cost?
“I’m here to win championships”? Are we bottom sixing our way to championships now?
Why are we playing 15-dimensional chess for Barrett Hayton? As far as moves go, is it “calculated”? I’d say “over.” But is it “smart”….?
