For the people in the back that may have not heard. By the time the draft came, the Sharks had about 46 mil of cap space left to work with. With that much burning a hole in Grier's pocket, and the solid roster he already built, I'm not surprised he gave Nurse that 9 mil aav.

As an Oilers fan I'm stunned at this. I was convinced to trade Nurse we'd have to retain some of that cap, the fact that we don't and we get a younger D in return is amazing. I haven't seen much of Mukha but I"m already loving this. Also I don't know what this guy on the panel is talking about, he doesn't defend hard, he gets lost and coughs up the puck like mad. Darnel's biggest asset is that he can play many minutes in a game.

I’m glad the Preds weren’t in on Nurse. This is the kind of dumb move Trotz would be happy to make.
Nurse's best days are behind him, but who cares, the only thing that matters is that colossally f'd contract is finally off the Oil's books.
Oilers fan here. He has bad playoffs every year, dragging down every partner on the team. Last year's one round was a slight exception to every other year. He filters massive numbers of goals in on his own net as deflections off him because he flamingos in no man's land. I think it was 17 last year alone. He has some merits some of the time. But glad he's gone. Not glad he didn't turn out, but know this: he was not very good. This recent narrative of "good D, but overpriced" is wrong. Maybe he'll change?
