  6. R.J. true to his word made the team bigger and harder to play against and increased the cap space to weaponize. Wasn't happy with the first two trades but they are in line with his stated goals. Much better day for the Canucks today.

  12. Thanks RJ. Been watching this team for 26 years and have seen incompetence time and time again, especially this past decade. Finally, we have a GM that has a plan and is sticking to the plan. Making smart moves, no long contracts, players that want to be here. It's almost unbelievable to see

  16. Everyone can bash Rutherford, and rightfully so. Allvin was nothing but a puppet. However, lets not forget that Rutherford got here, and all of a sudden, Canucks had to make a decision to go for the Cup in January or not. No one expected that. And it turned out working against them completely in the end. Because things were on track. They just somehow went to a level that wasnt realistic in the big picture. It wasnt long until reality crept in. In a big way. To the point of having to deal arguably the best player in the game in Hughes. If it was a movie, it might be too far fetched to believe. But it happened

  18. The Luke Schenn (Daddy Schenner) signing made me so happy today. He'll be good for the locker room, awesome for team culture, supporting the young guys and Vancouver fans love the dude.

  27. I was skeptical about Johnson because he was kind of a mediocre player — very earnest player, but irrelevant in any game I saw him in. But, playing and managing are very different sets of skills, so, we'll have to see what he can do. He hasn't made a misstep yet, and the draft along with the Marcus Pettersson trade do look like smart moves. If he can move EP40 for some picks over the next whatever number of months, this will be appreciated too. Luke Schenn is a winner, hugely appreciated by many Canuck players over the years: getting him back is obviously about setting him up for a future in management, maybe following in Ryan Johnson's steps. Until then, though, Schenn will be perfect for a rebuild.

  30. The Rebuild "Asset" is an Illusion: Saying the Canucks got "something" in return ignores reality. A top-10 protected draft pick in the next decade does absolutely nothing to help Hronek or the rest of the current roster now. Management literally traded a proven, chemistry-tested top-four pairing for a lottery ticket that won't even be drafted for four years.

  35. Canuck players are noticing……it's different already. This will create better chemistry, chemistry is very underrated and the Canucks haven't had it since 2011. I'm not saying this team will be a contender, but the will probably be a very 'tight' team that has each other's backs….just think back to 1982, that team was bursting with chemistry, not the best talent, but they had character. A team that plays for each other and wants to be in Vancouver. Positive signs….keep it up, RJ.

  37. Well that seals my opinion of RJ… most GM’s make moves within the typical short term window to show how great they are…

    The MP move shows he really is thinking about the long term health of the club… well done RJ👍

  38. I wanted RJ all along and posted here and other places I'd be absolutely pissed and disappointed in them if they didnt hire RJ and Manny.
    Fans will see that these rock solid moves and draft are just the beginning of many many more great moves coming for years and this group and owner will make the Canucks a class organization and contending team once again.

This team has been soft as butter and it was embarrassing how soft they were and now I'm seeing a huge group of young very skilled talent and potential surrounded by strong physical alpha players that will protect and teach them which thankfully will allow them to play their young skilled games and improve every year.
    This team will surprise people and other teams who think they're not good and they'll get very good a lot quicker than people think mark my words.

  41. Usually I reserve my judgement, but genuinely this first day was 100/100. Could not of asked for a better July 1st from the Canucks!

  46. Unless ep40 doesn’t fit the vision in terms of work ethic/culture.. theres no point trading him now. His contract will only get better and he might raise his value in a year or two. His floor is too high to do any worse than he already has
