The reason they traded him, and "gave up" or whatever is because UPL, Lyon, Ellis and Levi have all aged out of waivers. They aren't gonna keep FOUR goalies on the roster, and if they wanted to send one to the minors they'd need to clear waivers and none of them would clear, so they got some value while they could.
3 minute mark, Steve says,"Who gives a damn about a 3rd round pick". A few days ago when the Leafs got two of them for Carlo you acted like they were made of gold, dude.
the reason the Sabres had to do this now is because he's no longer waivers exempt, was our 4th goalie, and would have gotten claimed.

As a sabres fan, I see where the concerns about levi are coming from, but you give him pressure, an open net to make his own for a prolonged period (not good with one night on, one night off) and a long enough leash to hang himself with and I sincerely think he has the potential to be very good. I this will sound dumb but I hope he becomes the player we saw flashes of a few years ago and even a season ago in the rochester play off run
If Buffalo sent him down in the beginning of the season, he would have to go through waivers. Someone would have picked him up for nothing
