TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss the latest on Columbus defenceman Zach Werenski. LeBrun shares that the reigning Norris Trophy winner rejected a trade to the Stars that would’ve included Thomas Harley going back to Columbus, and that the Lightning and Maple Leafs are high on Werenski’s wish list.

  1. Tampas ENTIRE team basically has a NO MOVE clause, (check puckpedia) its literally impossible for him to go to Tampa unless 1-2 high profile players put their hand up and say please trade me from Tampa to Columbus… it aint happening. hes going to Toronto, 100%.

  2. He's going to Tampa if they have the assets Columbus wants. I doubt Columbus is going to give him up for anything less than an established player and draft capital similar to what Ottawa got. Toronto has a guy in Knies, and would likely give up four high picks.

If Toronto wants to compete with Florida, Tampa,Vegas, Carolina, and Dallas. They're going to have to be as ruthless and get the deal done, before Tampa figures out a way to get the assets needed.

  3. He wants to stay in the Eastern Conference

Lightning would have to give players NOW to the Jackets so I doubt that. Leafs are all over the place. Philly is a rebuild again.

Red Wings is closer to home and family and Larkin might stay with Werenski.

I think he wants to be on a team all but guaranteed to playoffs so that is Lightning, Hurricanes.

Curious how CBJ fans take this

  4. I would be shocked if he went to Toronto, you mean to tell me that he would want to go to a city where he’s going to be paid less, is hated for being American, and as a liberal hell hole?

  5. T.O. is different than the rest of Canada. Toronto is the center of the hockey universe and there's nowhere better to win. McDavid is coming home soon. It was always McDavid's plan to be a Leaf.

  6. Good luck to Knies, Cowan, Danford, and Colorado's 1st in Columbus. Welcome to the Leafs Werenski.
Now you just gotta sign Marchment, Laughton, Arvidsson, Patrick Kane, and your done. GLG

  7. Players are smart now a days, every league every big name player throws toronto in as a city of interest when the player doesnt have any interest in toronto
