More BAD NEWS For Maple Leafs Fans After Brandon Carlo Trade!

The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially traded Brandon Carlo, but this move may be just the beginning of a much bigger offseason shakeup. After giving up significant assets to acquire Carlo just over a year ago, Toronto has now moved him for two third-round picks, raising major questions about the organization’s direction under new general manager John Chayka.

In this video, we break down why the Carlo trade could signal much larger changes ahead, including growing speculation surrounding Morgan Rielly, Auston Matthews’ uncertain future, Toronto’s massive salary cap flexibility, and the latest NHL free agency rumors. We’ll also examine what this means for the Maple Leafs’ blue line and why many insiders believe more blockbuster moves could happen before the offseason is over.

  1. Doesn't matter what the Leafs paid for Carlo 15 months ago. Getting back two thirds for a a poor performer is good for the Leafs. Doesn't matter about Matthews, he's signed for two years. I don't know why any team would trade for Matthews who isn't worth his contract. Why wouldn't Matthew return? Is he going to retire? Reilly….four years at 7.5m doesn't seem a value for any team.

  2. Yup. Hang on to our hats. Lets see how far off of Treliving, Sundin n Chayka really are. They have 1 yr to get AM-led to mid pack+. This trade window is all about AM in Blue n White long term. Lets see what this "flex" brings.

  3. Third round picks are future AHL Marlies. Unfortunately, McKenna will result in the Leafs being a marginal playoff team for the foreseeable future. You have to get really bad before you can get really good. Neither Leaf fans nor management have the patience or wisdom to accept this reality.

  4. What you mean bad news!? Things have genuinely being going great for the leafs! Matthews isnt going anywhere, and they needed to get carlo out. Treliving shouldve never done the carlo trade, this is necessary damage control to recoup some of the cost.

  5. I've been a Leaf fan all of my life which is 62 years. I was too young to remember the Stanley cup win in 67. The last couple of months I've seen something different happen in the organization. I truly believe something big will happen very soon with this team.

  6. Leafs are going no where next season. The East is stacked, Florida is healthy and hungry again, there is still Carolina to contend with. Leafs will miss the playoffs and give the Bruins a top five pick for sure. Then Philly gets Toronto’s first rounder in 2028, Leafs are screwed.

  7. Elliot… you’re in the know…as a Leafs fan…is there any possible way that we can get rid of Matthews and send him to a US market??? Please put this out to the universe for me and any other Leaf’s fan that knows we will never see a cop with Matthews as captain… please advocate for trading him!!!!!!!

  8. chayka and sundin know what they are doing, people can complain about their vision for the team (and part of hiller's job is to bring that vision to a reality) but they are making reasonable moves instead of standing still (as the incompetent treliving offspring did, again and again)

  9. How is this bad news! It's another Shanaplan F-up that Cheka has to fix. Carlo was soft, can't skate, can't score but he's BIG. Is that the problem Freedman? you like big untalented D-men? Reilleeey will get 3 more 3rd round picks in return and that's a positive also!

  10. You all praise Morgan. Unbelievable. This guy made more mistakes in clinch moments. I can't count how many times he could not clear the zone or out of position.

  11. As bad as you think treliving was, he did lock up some good contracts for the leafs. The man just can’t handle a trade deadline for shit.
