Habs Draft Wilson-Esque BULLDOZER Pugachyov, TRUST in HuGo…

Montreal Canadiens draft power forward Gleb Pugachyov 26th overall at the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. Do Canadiens fans still trust in Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton to build a Stanley Cup contender in Montreal?

  1. Even if this guy wasn't the best player still available it became obvious in the playoffs that the Habs need more size and toughness up front. So maybe this will turn out to be a good selection. In HuGo we trust!

  2. Heyyyyy Drew! Thanks for the shout out at the beginning, much appreciated 😊 I'm team HuGo, trust they know what they are doing. Look at what we have so far!! Yes it's been a while since the last cup, but for me I watched and went nuts in the seventies, when they win the next time I might blow my pacemaker!😂😂😂 Love and hugs to Sherman❤❤

  3. Here's some data that may surprise fans. Over the course of two draft years, each team will, on average, draft 3 players total who will ever have a significant career in the NHL of 300 games or more 😮

On average, of the players drafted over the 7 rounds of the NHL draft only 60 will ever play more than 100 NHL games.

Only 40 will have a significant NHL career playing more than 300 games.

Of the 60 players who will play 100 plus NHL games 23 were selected in the first round, 10 in the second round and a total of 27 came from 3 through 7.

Imagine the outrage if an NHL GM traded two years of picks round 1 through 7 for a total of 14 picks to receive 3 NHL players in return.😮 Statistically, the end result would be the same! 🤣🤣🤣

  4. where were all the trades drew?
as i said earlier in the season, rebuilds dont take 4-5 years .
they have the top end talent sorta kinda .
now they have to trade some of that for the grit an bottom 6 and centers and righthanded d not names reinbacher
that should take about a year or two.
then hage and zarovski should be on the team or in camp.
allowing them to trade more of the skilled top 6 they have for what they need.
with a deadline deal or two along the way .

i would not expect playoffs this season drew.im sorry.
cbj det leafs booins etc etc etc will be fighting for those .
the habs won alot of ot games last season, pencil those in as losses.
i would assume that the nhl will have a book on dobas as well.
so i wouldnt expect last years numbers either .

17th place sounds about right imho.

free agents that speak english dont wanna play here.sorry.
english players dont either if theyre from the west.

so if they make a trade its a euro.

    two more years .

    my prediction .
    letsgoexpos !

  5. My thoughts on HuGo's attempts and failure, up to this point, of not making any substantial moves…on one hand, I appreciate the fact HuGo are not just going to hand over the farm just to make a deal…and lets face it, some of these deals are beyond explainable…like BByram for Chicago's 4th overall??? WTdoublehockeysticks??? Now, with that said…if you want a specific player who you think will definitely help your team, then you are probably willing to overpay. It's a risk, but I feel if it's a guy who will make a difference, it's worth it…to get value you have to give up value. Hughes commented on the fact he was frustrated that offers he thought were fair, could not get over the finish line…what were those offers and for whom? We all heard the Knies rumour…not sure if I completely believe the Habs offer, but I do feel they went hard for Knies and probably are still trying. Do I feel they missed out on McTavish, yes…could the Habs have offered better than what St,Louis offered, I believe so…but again, is McTavish a risk…yes! I think he has a huge ceiling and could be a difference maker, but there's a reason Anaheim benched him and he had a tough season so maybe we dodged a bullet…time will tell…but I think we missed out. There is a fine line, esp with Habs impatient fans and media…of being patient and possibly overly patient. Yes, I trust HuGo…but if they go into the start of next season without making any substantial moves…it MIGHT lead to a negative domino effect. Obviously, I don't want a panic move or adding someone just for the sake of adding someone…HuGo knows what changes need to be made, and they are not looking for short term or bandaids…they are looking for homeruns and long term. As for the first round pick of Gleb the human wrecking ball…he definitely fits a need. I watched a vid on him simply body checking opposing players, and he was literally going through them or making them one with the boards. I've seen hard body checks before but I whinced and audibly gasped with some of his hits. I personally hate hearing labels placed on a newly drafted player esp pointing out NHL player comparisons…I see him as a physically mature, high motor, hard checking forward, with good skating, and a good offensive skillset. He won't be a 20-30goal guy, but if he can bring toughness, hard to play against, energy, net front presence, tip in and garbage goal production…then I think we got a gem. But it's WAYYY too early. Btw, is it just me or if you put a moustache on him, does he not look like a long lost Xhekaj brother?hehe Anyway, the off season is not yet done…things can change fast. But all indications to me is, once free agency opens, I have zero doubt that Mason Marchment is target #1 for HuGo. We shall see what other teams are interested and the crazy numbers teams offer players, but there is no doubt Hab priority #1 is get bigger, get physically tougher. But doing nothing at all and starting the season w/the same cast of characters, is NOT what I want to see. Stay tuned! Go Habs Go!

  6. Slavkovski does not have the temperament to hit people at the boards oo at mid ice… Slav just PUSHES people away. Maybe if he played with a nastier lineup, he will acquire more b-lls and hit as a default mentality.
