  1. This feels like a very Ohio draft on a very Ohio day. It’s exactly like trying to be excited for a picnic on a day when the weather changes 100 times. Is it sunny or does it storm? Did we do good or is it terrible? Hurry up and wait Columbus!

  2. Please either get your players to commit and stay, or sell everyone off so we can at least tank a season or two and get a ton of first round picks so we can actually have a prospect pool.

  3. It started with the Babcock debacle. Then not trading Laine immediately, passing on Demidov, the Provorov albatross, trading Fantilli’s best friend Brindley, hiring and firing Dean Evason, the Chinakhov disaster, not moving Boone or Marchment at the deadline, and now this…

How does a modern NHL GM have analytics, scouts, and a phone that never stops ringing, yet not know who’s available—or that his own star players wanted out until the draft? That’s information you need before draft day to maximize your return, not after.

If we’d known sooner, maybe San Jose offers something like Sam Dickinson, the No. 2 pick (Stenberg), the No. 9 pick (Verhoeff), and the No. 23 pick (Ryan Lin). I could’ve lived with that and been excited about the future—especially with Z’s cap hit off the books. Now we’ll likely get a lot less.

I also think passing on Ethan Belchetz will be something we’re questioning five years from now. He’ll be playing at Michigan State alongside one of our own prospects, giving us a chance to see if they can develop chemistry together before they ever reach the NHL. Even if they don’t click, that’s valuable information. I hope I’m wrong, because Hemming would’ve been my pick too if Belchetz hadn’t been available.

Absolute clown show in Columbus… again.

  4. As a Canes fan who has a soft spot for the Blue Jackets and of course Waddell, this is pretty rough. I hope Columbus can get their feet under them and get some positive movement going forward.
