Im still bewildered why we sent Connor Ungar down to the ECHL when tomkins is old and will never play in the NHL just to move pickard, ho has the worst save percentage of the NHL this year, into the condors roster. Why are we not giving Ungar as many starts as possible in the AHL this year to see if he can develop into a good backup next year. Its ridiculous how the farm team fucks up the development of our young goalie prospects. Give the kid his chance for Christ sake.
Jarry has been proven that he doesn't belong to NHL. He should be sent to the farm team for further training before he come back to the oilers when he is proven available.
Which is why. I question Stan. I know he was pressured to make a change. But in desperation “mabey” he made a horrible decision in Jarry. He had to of known that. And it’s only sped up the departure of there franchise Star packing his bag and moving on to a cup team.
The teams identity is pretty clear my guy. Offense first, defense second and hope the goalie can erase any short falls or mistakes. This leads to what we see. Some games offense wins the night and sometimes the offense can't outscore the secondary objectives of defending. Defense is a team commitment and without Grant Fuhr in his prime level goaltending the Oilers have a mental commitment to team defense problem and thought the new additions and Coffee on the bench would make a difference. And they have imo. What killed the Oilers last night was the typical weak first goal that makes the bench go Here We Go Again. They have 0 confidence in Jarry and for damn good reason. The players quit on him, made him eat it last night and don't think we'll see Jarry again this season. He's that bad.

Nurse doesn't help the defensive efforts of the team from his lack of hockey IQ that puts his amazing athletic ability out of position all the time. His contract seems he plays top minutes and that hurts the team D. Less minutes please, he's usable, just lower in the line.

The Oilers are NOT serious contenders. They can barely win 3 games in a row, think they only did it once this season. I've been saying it for years, until this team commits to strong defensive play, they will wallow in mediocrity. Nurse needs to go, he's the poison in the dressing room and on the ice. McDavid needs to decide whether he wants a cup or if he wants to continue looking after his buddy, this coming offseason, that decision needs to be made imo.😡

Want to know the answer? The Oilers play stupid hockey. If they want to succeed they need to play more intelligent defensive hockey. They play like hormone overdosed teenagers all looking to score goals and get the girl. They all want the limelight and not one of them wants to do the thankless dirty work required to win.
