14. As a casual fan, I have hoped the Leafs would figure it out for the die hards. Watching them mishandle their assets during the last ten years has disabused me of that hope. A truly garbage franchise signing and selling fools gold via their media stenographers is all they are. Only hope for then to win is to get lucky and draft an alltime Mark Messier type great or two, which they haven't yet done, Matthews and Marner included.

20. I’m not a big CJ fan. Matthews didn’t say anything or do anything. And until he does so, you can clearly see that CJ is chasing his own tail about what he said.

I don't want to trade Knies, but if there was any option to get a 65-80 point 2nd line center, I would do it, because getting to a core 8 or 9 in the forward group is a LOT easier when you make that trade than if you were to keep Knies. Again, I love Knies. But if someone offers you a legitimate 2c that lets you put Tavares on the 3rd line, then I think that can really fix the team.
