  1. Was kinda hoping McMann would go to free agency but not really surprised. Seattle is a team that's been improving. U can say same for McMann as a player.

  2. Neither of these two moves takes away the apathetic attitude of the Kraken fans. They are 2 middle 6 wingers who are going to be paid too much moving forward. Neither are game breaking enough to be considered otherwise. Giving up a first for Mackie just shows how poor a GM Botterill is. You don't surrender first round picks for players on the third line.

  3. Sooo…with what Florida paid for brady…does that mean matthews is worth 4 1sts and 3 2nds??
If the leafs get offered what florida gave the sens.. they would be crazy not to take it

  4. I’m excited but they still need something else. I think the last move they’ll make it package Wright+ 7th overall for Kyrou. I think that might just make them a playoff contender

  5. There was a 0% chance Seattle was letting McMann go after how much instant chemistry he had with the rest of the guys in the top-6. 6×5.75 is a lot, but he was always going to stay

The Samoskevich trade is a lot of fun. On one hand, it’s a tough one to swallow giving up a 1st + a 2nd for a player with 32 points. On the other hand, his underlying metrics are fantastic, he’s fast, he’s great in transition, he forechecks well, he shoots a lot, and he’s young. All things that SEA needs, and all things that give him a lot of potential if he can get the playing time. He was also a teammate of Matty Beniers at Michigan, and they’re still close friends — so that’s cool, and likely good for the locker room chemistry

This can’t be it though. They need at least one more big forward move, and in a perfect world, they will completely overhaul this blue line, because it has performed worse than the sum of its parts for a couple seasons. There needs to be some major changes, and perhaps that big forward move could involve Vince Dunn. And perhaps there’s a separate move that could involve Bowen Byram — whatever it is, there needs to be a shakeup

  6. more middle six forwards but they are, as steve likes to say, DOING SOMETHING. always nice to see us actually trade and for players at that. and keeping McMann is great.

  7. Seattle traded a 1st round draft pick for a "this could have been a 2nd round draft pick" player. The Kraken have a solid goalie, a couple decent defencemen, and I liked it when they looted Kaapo Kaako from the Rangers. They had all of the advantages of Vegas (other than surprise) in the expansion draft and didn't do much with it. I didn't expect them to do as well as Vegas made out, but the media were cheering them on afterwards for how much salary cap space they had because that was pretty much all they had.
