Kesserling wasn’t even a lineup player end of year, its addition by subtraction
Kesselring dropped down to like 8th or lower on the depth chart. You’d be lucky to get a 5th round pick for that.
Besides, most of the scouts are saying that this draft gets pretty thin after Pick 20 anyways, so there’s that, but it also gives them more trade capital to get a bigger fish, because teams are more likely going to want a 20th versus the 27th.
This means they are picking Stenberg lol
I like the idea of the 7 spots to acquire a dman… I wonder if Grier goes after Bryson?
Buffalo made a good deal to move up 7 spots in a good draft year, giving up a defenseman who wasn't among thier top 6.
Well this pretty much tells you everyone expects all of those premium defensemen to be gone before pick 20.
relax
He was going to free agents anyway not a good player for the Sabres
Robbery?
Depth chart wise
He dropped behind
Timmons
AHL Metsa
Stanley
And Shenn
He was a healthy scratch for most the end of the season and played 4 mins in the playoffs.
Also he was not getting paid by the Sabres to be at best a 7th man on the D.
If San Jose sees value in his defense then reality is there defense is really really bad. And should have been willing to give up more to find that top 4 defenseman. But maybe they are and they plan on him being in the bottom pair anyways. But either way this is not loss to either team.
Most likely wanted out as he was not getting any ice time. I wish him the best.
Buffalo is wise with this one. Kesserling played his whole last season in Utah in the AHL, got 30 some games in Buffalo last year. Big but fringe d-man.
Does this mean SJ are less likely to draft Reid? Being a RHD
For the sabres 7th D man? Wtf we doin here
Means Sabres are either A) intending to re-sign tuch, or B) going big game hunting with their warchest of picks, prospects, and roster guys
This is a good trade to get a serviceable defenseman… but not robbery: this guy couldn't get on the ice for BUF. So he's a ~6/7 d-man.
Wheeling and dealing? Really.. one player trade for a pick
