  1. I wish the executive team wasn't so shortsighted. Young talent puts fans in the seats. It's wild how different eras pose different problems for this team. In the previous rebuild of 2009-2014, the issue was bringing in UFA but they didn't want to play in the Coliseum. Now, there is a brand new building and they won't bring in fresh/young talent. It's absolutely wild that they can't get this formula right….

  2. The Isles are going nowhere next season so a buyout is a waste of money and mortgaging the future. I could see it if the team was at the brink of contendership status but I dont think a buyout is worth it if they are just trying to squeak into a 7th or 8th playoff seed. Just suck it up next season and use Palat to the best of his ability. He wasn’t a good fit in Roy’s system but I see him as a 3rd liner if paired with the right linemates. So yeah youre paying a 3rd liner $6 mil for a season. Suck it up and work towards the future. Get some young players a season of experience

  3. Is hiding them in Hamilton an option? & them make them healthy scratches with the Hammers. Darche has made a pretty good mess in 11 months. Lack of discipline and sticking to a plan was not done. We need to get rid of the mindset of squeaking in to the playoffs and hoping for a miracle. He is Louzer LIte.
In the cap era, disciple and timing are some of the virtues in building a perennial contender

  4. There is no reason to buy him out. All that would do is push dead money into the future when we’ll actually need it. The only reason we took on his contract is we had the time to let his contract run out before we need that cap space. Next season, and the one after, were always going to be transition years. In two years, when our homegrown core is in the NHL is when we should START trying to add those final pieces. 30 years free agents we get now will be washed up before our core hits their prime.

  5. Darche is friends with Palat and he doesn't want to embarrass his friend by buying out his contract. It's no more complicated than that. Darche has been a bitter disappointment so far

  6. I don't understand the pov. Isles don't need to buy out Palat. They don't need the cap space and it's bad asset management

Buying out Mayfield?? He's a legitimate NHL 3rd line pairing. That's one of the silliest fan pov I have heard in a long time. If you don't want him on the Team, trade him. It's idiotic that is even in the conversation

  7. It's over boys – time to move on.
Eyes should be on Knies in Toronto.
    Apparently they're taking calls.
Pulock, this year's 13th, Danny Nelson and Palmieri just might do it for – Knies and a 3rd rndr this year.

  8. Palat is the old guard from Tampa, he'll never get bought out by darche. As the late great George Carlin said, it's a big club… and you ain't in it

  9. Why did this trade for Palat happen in the first place, same with the Schenn trade, we need to get younger and build around MS. Clueless front office as always 😑

  10. The owners forced this mistake, yet they won’t allow Darche to correct it? Hopefully this is just a smoke screen for other GMs, but if they don’t allow a buyout then Isles owners need to be told by fans to sell the team DONT BUY TICKETS is only vote fans have
