The New Jersey Devils are floating the idea of a trade involving Jacob Markstrom. From an Edmonton Oilers fan perspective, is there any appetite for an aging goalie, who very well might just be a lateral move?

I figured once I saw the news about Markstrom, the Oilers would be involved. Do you want to know something sad. In the very early months of the season just gone by, the Oilers were reportedly in talks with the Hurricanes to get Bussi. sigh.
Markstrom is ridiculous. Oilers are just screwed at this point.

Markstrom was a great goalie when he played for Calgary , I think he is past his peak now tho

January 6 2025 , Jacob Markstrom 24 shots allowed, 9 goals allowed with a %62.5 save percentage. Loses 9-0 to Ilya Sorokin who had 44 shots allowed 0 goals allowed and a 100% save percentage shut out.
Markstrom is no better than Jarry actually worse.
I'd think I'd go for Bob or Markstrom. You might want to avoid Binnington.
Steve Valiquette said on Kyper & Bourne back in April. "Binnington, he's really good when he gets to play the shooter and gets to over-challenge and just play his one-on-one hockey. He gets hurt on the backside when he over-challenges. Florida can protect him there."
The Oilers aren't the best at stopping the backside play….

Why not just get a garbage bag filled with compost (or fresh animal manure) and leave it somewhere on the ice. It has the same odds of blocking a shot and smells as fresh. Look, right now I have the absolutely zero tact. I don't want this piece of er I mean player.

I wouldn't touch Markstrom – he's worse than Jarry – plus we already made a play for him and he signed in Calgary instead – shunning us. So F him.
Stan Bowman, get rid of him first…then you can begin building something.
