How the Canadiens Built a ‘Dynasty’ in the Making

The Canadiens’ rise wasn’t luck. It was years in the making. From the Max Pacioretty trade to Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovský, Lane Hutson, and Ivan Demidov, Montreal quietly built one of hockey’s brightest futures. But one decision changed everything, and almost nobody saw it coming.

  1. I don’t think non Habs fans have any idea how bad it’s been seemingly since they traded Roy to Colorado. There were many, many dark periods with this team. The new management has breathed new life into this team and they finally seem to be turning a page. There’s a lot to be excited about the next few years.

  2. I personally as someone who used to be a big fan of hockey and Canadiens, had completely stopped caring about hockey and the Canadiens, as I saw how badly they played overall, even when they won it felt like it was the other team errors most of the times. This year it was the first time I paid attention to hockey again, and I was able to finally see a team that reminded me of the good old one from the 90s. As long as nothing bad happen, and those at the top don't make dumb decisions like they did in the past multiples times, then I am fairly certain the Canadiens are bound for great things in a few years.

  3. What I really like about this group is that they're taking contracts for the team. Not maxing out the cap and with enough years to give themselves time. Also of course the power of friendship! They won me over during their playoff run

  4. Dynasty… that's the word you chose to go with. Lmao they are going to be reliable contenders at best. You Canadians get ahead of yourself on everything, it's weird.

  5. Good recap, but I noticed that you didn't mention Reinbacher. Might end up being a bad pick in hindsight. Guy can't stay healthy and has only played a few games at the NHL level. Ryan Leonard sure would have looked good in this lineup. Hopefully Reinbacher becomes an impact player in the near future. You probably should have mentioned Fowler, Hage, Zharovsky, Pickford, etc. as they are coming.

  6. The big difference in that ECF was that Carolina prepared themselves for this 3rd round with 2 times 4-0 clutch series (hard to pull off) . Montreal, survived through 2 series that could end up in 6 both times. It a veteran team vs a newly, way ahead, rebuild team. was bound to happen but MTL definitely owned their spot by beating team no.4 & 5 in the NHL back to back.

  7. Ironic the previous and currently the most accomplished goal scorers for the Canadiens are Americans! Shows how much the demographics for the game has changed.

  8. Lets not forget the other rookies already pushing to emerge dominants..make a search you'll see..Habs will be a titan shortly and for a longtime..this scary the entire NHL 😮😮😮😮😮😮
