D.A. gets everyone ready for a titanic Game 7 by explaining — as only he can — the emotional chaos all Sabres fans are feeling heading into tonight.

But then he goes deeper.

On this special Game 7 edition of Sabres in Six, D.A. dissects THREE revealing quotes from Lindy Ruff that prove the Buffalo Sabres are in exactly the right hands for this moment.

Including:
• Ruff’s blunt breakdown of the “awful start” in Game 6
• The rallying cry: “JFG”
• And his hilarious but telling comment about Buffalo somehow being better on the road than at home

This is the kind of press conference film study D.A. does best — reading between the lines to explain the psychology, leadership, and mindset heading into the biggest Sabres game in years.

Everything about Game 7 is inside these quotes.

  1. At times I have been in awe of their stick skills, their hand-eye coordination. It is unlike anything I have seen at times. This creates puck possession and turn overs that let you control the game. Add in good passing and forechecking, standing up puck carriers on defense and you control the entire game (with decent goaltending). Winning half the face off at least is important and if you lose the face off, get after them.

  2. Believe it or not, I feel pretty easy today. I had low expectations – basement – at the beginning of the season, by the new year I was on board because they were playing such good hockey and it was clearly not a fluke, and in spite of winning the Atlantic division, I expected only a first round win from them. I know those boys have enough stress and tension on their plates as is, they feel obligated to win one for us, and as such I feel obligated to trust them to do their best but without the weight of expectations. It doesn't hurt any that they play much better when they are playing fast and loose rather than in their own heads 🤣

  3. If the Sabres get solid goaltending tonight, I think they'll win. The key is to not get too excited and don't let the Habs goad them into penalties. I won't say I'm NOT nervous though.

  4. Montreal media gets asking some passive aggresive questions in a way to irritate or to inject doubt into the other team. They say stuff about the slow start and reminding us about a lack of experience or whatever. They're just playing mind games.

    I think Lindy knows that.

  5. Ruff cracked the code. Stop playing safe and just turn these boys loose! Pond hockey is their game, no one can hang with their stuff. JFG BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ALL THE WAY TO THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!! LET’S GOOOOOO BUUUFFFFAAAAAALLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  6. Pin This

Your goalie has to be good. He has to stop the easy shots. He can't beat himself also…

    ATTACK AND GET BACK.

    WTF is with Alex Tuch?

    I'm not jinxing the score.

    Trust me.

Why didn't you say go Sabres?

  7. Fan base wanted Metsa for this series, will he draw back in again? Looked pretty good out there IMO. No way do I look at Schenn or Stanley. Crimins played well in game 6, Kesselring doesn't seem to have the confidence of the coaches.

  8. 1:58 Let's be clear about exactly which Jedi Lindy is. Lindy is Alec Guinness Obi-wan. In 99 he was early McGregor Obi-wan, when he left Buffalo he was McGregor Obi-wan going off in to exile, and now he's Alec Guinness Obi-wan, ready to help young guys full of piss and vinegar blow up the fucking Death Star.

  9. Been pulling for Sabres all season, said before the series that I would be happy for either team, either one will probably lose to Carolina anyways, and unfortunately fully expect Montreal to win tonight

  10. Reminds me of a Lou Saban pep talk b4 a game vs Dieami in the 70s.

"We're at the crossroads, there's no doubt about that.

If we die, we die together.

You can get it done, you can get it done. What's more, you GOTTA get it done!"

  11. I'm gonna cry if they win tonight. 51 year old man, yep I already feel it swelling up inside 💠 LET'S GO BUFFALO 🦬⚔️🌩️ JUST ONE MORE

  12. GREAT "Jedi" coachinf by Lindy, as you've rightly observed. My fear is that here has been too much publicity about this "secret sauce" and that Marty St Louis will simply COPY Lindy and unleash the Habs. And if that "equalizer" happens, Montreal has the advantage in goal. 🙁 🙁 🙁
