Owen Power should be UNTOUCHABLE after fantastic playoffs for the Buffalo Sabres
Many Buffalo Sabres fans have wondered about trading Owen Power over the years, but after a stellar playoff campaign, fewer and fewer of them are as into the idea. Power played through an ankle sprain in Game 7 against the Canadiens and played fantastic in over 28 minutes of action, setting up Rasmus Dahlin for the game tying goal in the 3rd period, despite playing through an injury. Sneaky Joe believes Power deserves enough respect to pretty much be considered untouchable in a trade.
HOWEVER, there are a select few players in the league that the Sabres would have to consider trading Power for, if they are even available. Brady Tkachuk in Ottawa and Jason Robertson in Dallas.
Plus, Nikita Kucherov winning the Hart Trophy makes the Jon Cooper Jack Adams win look even more pathetic.

I just don't believe in rewarding players for playing poorly and Tuch played like s**t in the Montreal series.
Carter Hart was found not guilty by a female liberal judge and jury
This year I kind of wanted to trade power because of his contract 8.3 million but you were right. The playoffs have changed my mind. I thought he played very well in the playoffs when he had the park he did a very good job of getting it out and he had a lot of good assist. He needs to work on the shooting though he’s having trouble getting shots through.
I don't think Dahlin was our best defenseman last year… that would have been Samuallsson.. Mattias has always been a solid defensive defenseman.. but last year, he has suddenly started scoring too. And playing mostly with Dahlin, just sick that pairing.. I also think Power stepped back more because he was probably with Byram so much that he stayed back a bit more and let Bo be offensive. I'm not worried about Tuch.. we have so many of those picks that Adams did a great job of drafting.. Kulich, Ostland, Helenius and a few other that were not in the first round.. they are ready for a shot and they shows some of that last year. Also gotta love that Peterka trade.. last year after he requested it we were worried.. Got Kesselring and that looked llike the big piece with Doan as the throw-in… now, Doan replaced JJ almost perfect and Kesselring was the bonus.. if he's healthy this year.. we're good.
Power should get better. It's hard to find big guys that skate as well as he does. Him and tage are roughly the same size and the 2 couldn't be further apart as far as skating goes.
I just lost quite a bit of respect for you during this episode 🤦♂️
Power + Byrum + Norris + Kulich (or Ostlund) + 1st (maybe) for Edvinsson + Larkin. You read that and you say: "man, what the F are you smoking?"… The rational behind making that trade is that: it's not just: Edvinsson + Larkin. It's actually: Tuch + Larkin + Edvinsson + Krebs + Kesselring… Because the Sabres don't have the money to sign Tuch, Krebs and probably Malynsteyn or K-Ring. Going after just Larkin doesn't make sense because you don't even have the money for Tuch. Larkin isn't much of an upgrade from Tuch anyhow, they are both basically the same guy. The only way Larkin makes sense is if you retain Tuch and then have: Tuch and Larkin. You're going to lose Tuch, Krebs, and either Malynsteyn or K-Ring as it stands now. For nothing. No return. So you need a major cap dump to make all of this happen. Let's say, because of the cap you're automatically starting at [-]Tuch, [-]Krebs, [-]K-Ring… If you make this BUF – DET MEGATRADE and can sign Tuch you are actually [-]Byrum, [-] Power, [-]Ostlund, [-] Norris, [-]1st… [+]Tuch, [+]Larkin, [+] Edvinsson, [+]Krebs, [+]K-Ring and you could make the argument [+] MRTKA because you are creating a hole in the defense and making a commitment and rolling the Dice on him making it as a top 4 d-man. Yes it would hurt losing Power, but Larkin is going to require a major sacrifice. If you add [-]Kulich instead of Ostlund perhaps you could pull Power out of this deal. Or possibly Byrum + Norris + Ostlund + 1st for Edvinsson + Larkin. But time is of the essence for Larkin and Tuch so this is all kind of rushed. They will both be gone soon. You're putting a trade on the table that Detroit CANNOT refuse. I'm excited about Kulich and Hellenius, Ostlund, but The Sabres are trying to win a cup SOON. Winning a cup without Tuch and Larkin is going to be is harder than with Tuch and Larkin, and these opportunities are scarce. They are going to have let go Tuch, Krebs, K-Ring, and then trade Norris, or Zucker/Greenway to replace Tuchs production. But if you trade a Norris for a Tuch like replacement then you're [-]Norris and won't be able to get even close to Tuchs value… This cap situation is bad, there aren't a lot of great options here 👍 🏒 💯 ⚔️
Power has always been good. Remember when Joe thought Sabres sucked at the beginning of the year?
If this was about tuch it could have been called untuchable. Also, please never get a tkachuk brother on this team.
Power is very much not untouchable.
I thought Power improved slightly this year but to say he was better than Byram is comical.
Power was pissing in his pants every time Josh Anderson came in to forecheck. Gave the puck up multiple times.
Agreed!
OP was far from fantastic. He was decent. He should be dealt to clear cap space as he is way over paid and we would be better off with at least 1 RHD man on the top 4. Give Kesselring a 1 year show me deal. Play hum with Byrum & if he falters Metsa can get it done. Mrtka is coming in the next year or 2 as well. We do not need OP and his soft, weak defensive game. Don't care what anyone says he will not be anything more than what he is now. Always soft & always a defensive liability.
Funny how early in the season all the wgr guys were saying trade Power, Quinn and Samuelson
