  1. If this is real, the C needs to be removed, especially if he would be to stay. He doesn’t have to be moved, but if he wants out you really don’t want him on the team….total locker room cancer

  2. Doomsday scenario my AZZ! If Larkin wants a trade he has to be flexible about where he goes. Yzerman just gets a top 6 C for Larkin. He’s a guy who plays great in tournaments then disappears down the stretch for the Wings.

  3. Why would another team just swap centers with Detroit? No, it will only be prospects and/or picks. And if Larkin goes, Cat goes to, maybe as a package. Sorry, it's going to be another rebuild. And Toronto is not giving up Mathews for Larkin and a 1st. For that trade, you're likely going to have to throw in 2 1sts, or a 1st and Carter Bear. And even that might not get it done. Nope, if Larkin goes, Cat goes, Faulk goes, Gibson goes, maybe Copp, if we can get some team to take him. I do hear some talk about some package to Toronto for the first overall, though. That might be more realistic, because Toronto, despite their record last season, isn't that far away, and I think Mathews would love to play with Larkin.

  4. Steve and Dylan share the blame. Get rid of both of them. Retool around Seider and Raymond. Give Mo the C and bring in someone who isn’t afraid of making moves and using assets and doesn’t make it hell for the team captain by creating a toxic standard of comparison to himself.

  5. Something BIG needed to happen to the Wings, and this is a start because whatever they were doing the last 3-4yrs wasn't working. At least Larks has a good contract with term that other teams will like.

  6. He was NEVER captain material to begin with. Mo Seider should be captain as he gives zero fucks and will be one of the top 5 Dmen in the league if he isn't already. Mo's work ethic is above the charts.

  7. Why would anyone trust Yzerman going forward to get any real value for Larkin? Holl, Chariot, Compher, Gos, Appleton, Copp. It is not that impressive to get decent players when picking in the top 10, otherwise he is a poor judge of talent and has no balls. I knew the franchise was done when in GR Cleary bragged about the Wings having female skating coaches (DEI garbage). He surrounded himself with old friends not top executives that know how to evaluate talent

  8. good riddance. i just…can't with him anymore. the timely injuries around following the deadline. the drop in production in march. don't get me started on the cash patootie nonsense. seider has been wearing the C in my heart at least since the flopped home and home against columbus (including the stadium game) last year. yzerman has to land something big – larkin and cossa for mcdavid, for example – or i don't see him lasting the summer. i get that it took him 13 years to lift a cup, but it shouldn't take the rest of us that long just to see a playoff game at LCA. my heart says this is the shake up they've been needing. let it begin!

  9. Larkin's attitude has not been one of a Captain. He should have been at the last game. The team is fractured and needs to be fixed. Time to take the "C" away from Larkin and put it on Mo. We need a Captain who isn't such a whiner. Tired of Larkin playing for 4 nations, Olympics etc. and plays stellar there, but come back to the Wings and does not play like that.

  10. No move is to protect player Larkin can't use that when he is the one wanting out. Well he can but then Stevie says fk it and just keeps him. I want leafs 1 ➕️ this year for him. Be nice to get knies

  11. I don’t blame Larkin for wanting out. To do it through the media is absolutely weak sauce from your Captain. Yzerman deserves blame for sure, but Yzerman doesn’t play for the wings. All of Larkin’s best games came for other teams- that’s not a good look. This is going to suck for sure; but the wings can build a proper contender around Seider.

  12. Just cannot get mad about this. He's given us 10 years of blood, sweat that tears with a management group that has been unwilling to take that extra step to make us truly competitive. Laks got a taste of winning and wants to play on a team worth a shit in his prime. Good luck Larkin. I will still be cheering for you.

  13. Some of your suggested trades are wild, Larkin is not going to STL for Thomas, Thomas is worth more and younger.

And Canucks is not giving you a top pick for taking on EP40.

    Some realistic options would be
    – Montreal (around Hage)
    – Anaheim (around McTavish/McQueen)
    – Vegas (Hertl)
    – Carolina (Blake)

  14. I've been thinking about this for a while now. I think he has been a great player for us, but the reality is that maybe he wasn't fit to be a capitan. Maybe secondary leadership is where he excels. At the end of the day, the team was first in January and slowly went downhill. He can blame Yzerman all he wants, but a Capitain gets the team together and keeps momentum going. Three things can be true: 1) The bottom six needs upgrade 2) Larkin was not as good a capitain as we thought 3) Yzerman and the coaching staff could have tried something else to keep the team afloat.

The more I think about it, the more likely these meetings happened during the season. It is obvious to everyone how the team broke down after being unstoppable. With that in mind I think that the main culprit is Larkin.

Better to trade him off, I've made my peace with that. I could gun for a discounted Petterson.

(This is assuming we trade him in the Draft. If not, the "C" goes immediately away)

  15. In April 4th I posted the following: "Larkin is fed up with Yzerman and Yzerman is fed up with Larkin". If Yzerman stayed, it was likely to me that Larkin would get out of the boat. No surprises for me.

Also, Larkin is watching the SCF and seeing where Marner and Ghost are and where he could get elsewhere.

Can't blame him for the decision.

  16. Stevie Y played for 14 years before he won a Cup he was literally on some of the worst teams this franchise has ever seen in the late 80's he didn't piss and moan about it. Larkin was never a leader and this proves it.

  17. Greg I do understand you wanting to hold him if the trade is not good enough for Detroit. Since he has done this you would obviously need to strip his C but keeping him on the roster could create a very negative vibe. I think you must move him for the best package available. They really do need a culture reset, maybe this will be the catalyst that allows that to happen?

  18. This franchise is a complete train wreck. If Yzerman and his gang of incompetent pro scouts weren't in charge, I'd be happy with Larkin wanting out honestly. Dylan has shown, time and time again, he cannot handle pressure as a go–to player. He just cannot handle it. Bad attitude. But I cannot trust ths awful management to do this and make it work. They have shown their inability to adjust to the new NHL reality.
