  1. A coworker was lamenting his hometown team the LA Kings choice of head coach and I told him I'm glad Dubas selected Muse. Retreads are not the way to go.

  2. I agree that the Oilers are crazy to hire Babcock but they did hire two inexperienced coaches before him. And generally inexperience doesn’t lead to success in any facet of life. Not in the NHL either. If it did the guy that hired Dan Muse would still be the gm in Toronto. Stanley Cup winning coaches are usually in their 50's. You named Paul Maurice who just went to three straight finals and John Tortorella who is currently coaching in the finals. Bruce Cassidy was around for awhile until he had big time success in Boston and won a Stanley cup 4 years ago in Vegas. Lindy Ruff helped the Sabres break a 15 year playoff streak. Joel Quenneville is one of the winningest coaches in NHL history and helped break the ducks playoff drought. He was also cleared of any wrong doing. Peter Laviolette is a Stanley Cup Champion and went to the finals with 3 different teams. Scotty Bowman coached on several different teams and is considered the greatest coach ever. He had long stretches without winning the Cup. I think the coaches that usually last in the NHL are pretty good at what they do.
