  1. Let's get real here. There have been plenty of opportunities to make good trades and we get future considerations for letting guys go. We let ghost go and he's in the cup finals. This year was the year to do something they proved themselves all season and nothing….having said that I was disappointed with Larkins behavior after the Olympics so did away with the Larkin shirts back in the winter. I still think he's a great player and adds a lot to a team, where ever he goes he's going to do just fine because he has a winning mind set. Detroit culture is in question. Last year you had Raymond and Chiarot fighting each other in practice, P.E. teacher coaches. I mean let's get real about things for a sec. Now tensions are at an all time high and no communication so yeah he's like I want to start fresh and actually contribute to a serious hockey club and I'm willing to give up the C to do it. That's not quiting; that's actually self preservation.

  2. I don’t blame this on Larkin at all. This is solely on Yzerman’s shoulders. The Wings have been right there at the deadline last 2 years and Yzerman CHOSE not to add when the players wanted/needed that boost to get in the playoffs.
He’s requested to go to teams that he knows the GM and Owner will do what it takes to win a cup. That’s not something that Yzerman is willing to do, he wants to cuddle his prospects and keep future draft picks

  3. Why is it any other team can trade players , but Larkin becomes the lower and if they haven't talked in a year what has taken Stevie so long to make changes. And really Mcarty you played for the team that was talent on every line so he hasn't turned his back on anyone , the organization has let him down , many opportunities have been there over 2 years for Stevie and company to get him some help

  4. Larkin could’ve also said “if I’m not wanted anymore, then trade me here.” It may have been caused by Yzerman or the coach instead of Larkin. It would explain his unrealistic list of teams.

  5. I understand his frustration but yeah he quit on them. I remember wondering before he signed his extension "would they be better off trading him?" I mean they were screwed after his NTC kicked in but I was wondering that not because of him but he was 5 years older than Yzerman's first draft pick. Would they be better off getting assets and build around Seider and Raymond. They should have traded him at the 22 draft. After that the better plan was to keep him. But that's hindsight for ya.

The last few years has showed me he's not mentally tough enough to be the leader of a team. Didn't like how the contract negotiations went, didn't like Bert being traded (which had to happen) and then blamed no trade last year as the reason they choked. The team for sure took on his personality of when things were going great it's all sunshine but when things went bad you fold and take no responsibility.

  6. Yea disappointing. He does have good skills. Had he belly'ed up to the bar and give another 3-4 years, eye think everyone would be happy. Wings r on the cusp. This may boost it or kill it. Clearly the cappy wasnt happy with his cappy. The Cappy spent season after season wit nothin. Then was rewarded. Larks coulda-shoulda walked that path. But nooooooo………yea….2 bad.

  7. People can question his decision all they want. The reality is, he will get traded to a team and probably win a cup (or at least be in the hunt) long before the RWs win one.

  8. Larkin has suffered losing 10 out of 11 seasons in the league it takes a toll on athletes the greatest Lion in team history retired ( Barry Sanders) because it a toll on him.. I want the best for Larkin..ultimately I am pro RedWings…I want the best for the team!!

  9. Dylan has been a TOOL since high school. Looks like he hasn’t changed. Always an average “good” player and a weak leader. Not sure why they ever gave him the C

  10. Thanks DMac for acknowledging my Blues. Those vets, like Steen and Petro, were on that team for so long before they had a shot at the cup. True champions don’t quit when it’s hard

  11. lol, wings have flopped at the trade deadline more than enough times. They need to make a move to prove to their fans that they give a shit. Because it certainly doesn’t seem like it.

  12. Larkin should be sent to Grande Rapids until a trade is made. If he doesn't go he's suspended, and if it takes a year or two ,so be it,, otherwise he will be a big distraction in the room…

  13. The real problem is yzerman!! He is the GM and in charge of putting a team around Larkin capable of being a contender! He hasn't done shit! To build the team!! The Red Wings have been circling the drain for 10 years now!! How is that not HIS FAULT!?!?!?!? Larkin is a " good " player not a " GREAT " player! You cannot expect him to carry the team by himself into the playoffs! His numbers have been very good year in and year out! But he needs a TEAM around him with some actual TALENT!!!! Steve Yzerman is the problem!!!! You don't even speak to your best player and Captain for a YEAR AND A HALF!?!?!?!? you go after him publicly through the media!?!? And now wonder why TF he wants out!?!?!?!? Are you fng kidding me!?!?!? LMFAO 😂😂. Yzerman is the PROBLEM!!!!!! you should be getting rid of HIM!!!!!!

  14. It’s hard for me to be upset with Larks.
He has definitely sacrificed a lot here and just 1 postseason.
Detroit in the Western Conference compared to their time in the East is night and day.
They were the “Yankees” of hockey. Now the league doesn’t give a F about them.
Larkins approach is commensurate with someone who’s flailing. Not good.

  15. If Dylan Larkin doesn't want to be a Red Wing anymore, let him go. We will be better off without someone who doesn't want to be here. But he should take a look at Sergei Fedorov. He ended up leaving and was booed for years. He said it was a mistake on his part to leave the team. He ended up with a jersey in the rafters, but it took a lot to get it there. And many people still don't like him, just for requesting a trade. This is a mistake, but now he has to leave. And he has to leave the Captain's spot for someone more deserving. He can't keep the "C" no matter what.

  16. The wings were tied for first in the conference in January, it’s up to the captain to put his team on his back and get them to the finish line. He ended up having one of his worst slumps in March as his team was collapsing. Seider will make a better captain, I would have that presser today and hand Mo his sweater with the big C.

  17. Mac said it perfectly: when the going gets tough, Detroit players dig in. Mac lived it through the playoff disappointments in the early/mid 90's and ultimately reaped the rewards of digging in with 4 Stanley Cup rings.
Larkin, as captain, should be the leader and motivate the team instead of quitting on the Wings and asking for a trade. Larkin did good for Detroit, it's unfortunate that this trade request will be his legacy as a Red Wing.
